Decent Flexibility for a Big Corporate Company

TE Connectivity is a solid place to work, especially if you value some freedom in your schedule. It's a big corporate company, so don't expect a startup vibe, but they do try to offer flexibility.

Pros

I really appreciated the hybrid model for engineering roles. You typically get 2-3 WFH days a week, which helps a lot with personal commitments. It made balancing my life much easier in this industrial technology sector.

Cons

Sometimes, that flexibility depends heavily on your specific manager. Some teams in the Harrisburg, PA office are more rigid about onsite days. There's also pressure to be onsite for certain meetings, even on WFH days, which can be tough.

Advice to Management

Standardize the hybrid model and WFH policies across all departments. Ensure managers empower their teams to actually utilize the available flexibility without guilt.

Solid Pay & Benefits, Good for the Electronics Industry
Pros: The compensation package is pretty good here, especially for onsite work as a Manufacturing Engineer. The base salary feels competitive for the electronics industry, and they've got some robust benefits like health insurance and a solid 401k. It's a big, global company so things like that are well-established.
Cons: While the pay is solid, annual raises can be a bit modest, not always keeping up with market changes. It sometimes feels like you need to switch roles to see a significant salary jump. There's not much negotiation room for promotions if you stay in the same department in the Harrisburg, PA office.
Advice to Management: Review compensation increase policies to ensure they remain competitive with market rates, especially for high-performing individual contributors. More transparency around salary bands for different roles would also be helpful for career planning.

Stable company, but slow for career growth
Pros: You get pretty solid job security here, which is nice. As an Electrical Engineer, I got to work on some cool projects involving industrial technology, like new connectors and sensors. The benefits package is decent for a big corporate company.
Cons: Career growth is a huge issue; it's tough to get promoted for engineering roles. There just aren't many opportunities to move up, especially if you're stuck in the Harrisburg, PA office. It feels like you hit a wall after a few years.
Advice to Management: Please create clearer paths for career growth and internal promotions, especially for experienced Electrical Engineers. Invest more in developing talent rather than always looking externally.

Decent place, but job security isn't solid.
Pros: The pay and benefits are pretty competitive for a Design Engineer in industrial technology. You get to work on some cool connectivity solutions, which is great for building your resume. The onsite team in Harrisburg is generally supportive, which makes the day-to-day workload more manageable.
Cons: Job security here isn't as reliable as you'd hope from a big corporate company. Reorgs can happen, and sometimes roles are eliminated without much warning for employees. This uncertainty makes it tough to plan long-term career growth within the company.
Advice to Management: Focus more on retaining talent and providing clear career development paths. Transparency during reorgs would also help morale and trust.
