Okay balance for a demanding recruitment consultant role
Pros: You do get decent holiday allowance, which helps with burnout. The hybrid model definitely made things better, I wasn't in the London office five days a week. My immediate team had a good vibe and supported each other.
Cons: The pressure to hit targets can be pretty intense. Expect to work late often, especially when closing a big deal. For a Recruitment Consultant, it's not a true 9-to-5; sometimes personal time takes a hit.
Advice to Management: Try to better manage consultant workloads during busy periods. Encourage real breaks and downtime to prevent burnout, especially for those new to the recruitment industry in a global corporate environment.

Decent Flexibility, But You Earn It
Pros: I appreciate the hybrid model for Recruitment Consultants here. It's nice to have a few WFH days per week, which really helps with the commute to the New York City office. This arrangement makes the agency life a bit more manageable.
Cons: While the option is there, actually taking advantage of the work flexibility can be tough. Client demands often mean you're on call, even on remote days. It feels like you always have to justify using your WFH days, which isn't ideal.
Advice to Management: Encourage managers to truly support the flexible work policies. Don't make people feel guilty for working remotely when it's allowed by the company.

Okay flexibility but long hours for recruiters
Pros: As a Recruitment Consultant, I did get some flexibility to manage my own day for client meetings. The hybrid work model in the London office was a plus, usually 2-3 days WFH, which helped with commutes and personal appointments.
Cons: The flexibility often got overridden by the demanding targets and long hours common in the recruitment industry. It's tough to truly log off when your success is commission-based, so work-life balance isn't always there.
Advice to Management: Management should really emphasize protecting boundaries, especially for junior consultants. Better support for achieving targets without constant weekend work would improve retention.
