Pay and Benefits are Decent, Could Be Better
Pros: Health insurance plans are solid. I've had good coverage for my family. The 401k match is generous for a big tech company. There's decent PTO for a Software Engineer. The hybrid work setup is a big plus for flexibility.
Cons: Base salaries for junior roles feel a bit low. Don't expect huge annual raises here. Bonuses aren't as strong as I'd hoped. It's tough to increase total comp in the test and measurement industry.
Advice to Management: Keysight management should review market rates for engineering compensation. Raising base salaries and improving bonus structures would help attract and retain talent in the test and measurement industry.

Solid place, but culture can be slow-moving
Pros: The job security is good for an established big corporate company in the test and measurement industry. Many colleagues in the Santa Rosa, CA office are genuinely smart and helpful, which makes daily work as a Software Engineer decent. There's a lot of institutional knowledge here.
Cons: The company culture feels a bit dated at times. It's hard to get new initiatives off the ground, and change is really slow. Sometimes it feels like bureaucracy gets in the way of innovation.
Advice to Management: Try to empower teams more and streamline decision-making. Embrace modern work styles and encourage more cross-functional collaboration. Listen to feedback from younger employees about company culture.

Okay Flexibility, But It Varies
Pros: Being remote from Austin, TX as a Software Engineer was a big plus. It's great to have that option for many of us on the development side. I could really manage my own day.
Cons: It's not the same for everyone though; I've heard hardware engineering roles often require more onsite time. Sometimes, even remote, it's tough to truly disconnect when project crunch times hit.
Advice to Management: Management should work on making flexible options more consistent across all divisions. Even for our test and measurement groups, some hybrid setups could really help morale.

Hybrid model has its moments, but needs work
Pros: As a Software Engineer, some days working from home are really helpful. My team is pretty good about understanding when I need WFH. It's a big tech company, so the benefits package is solid.
Cons: The corporate hybrid policy feels a bit forced, honestly. Having to be onsite X days a week, even when there's no real reason, isn't ideal for focused software development. The Santa Rosa office is nice, but those mandatory days can really mess with my work-life balance.
Advice to Management: Give teams more autonomy on WFH versus office time. The current hybrid policy feels too rigid for certain roles within the test and measurement industry.

Solid Company, Decent Stability for Engineers
Pros: Job security is a real plus here, especially for Hardware Engineer roles. They don't do massive layoffs often, which is good in the semiconductor industry. Benefits are pretty standard for a large corporation.
Cons: Career growth can feel slow if you're ambitious; promotions don't happen super fast. Some processes feel a bit dated, which can be frustrating during onsite work at the Santa Rosa campus. The pace isn't always exciting.
Advice to Management: Speed up the career progression paths, especially for high-performing technical talent. Modernize some internal tools.

Okay Pay, Work Flexibility Needs Improvement
Pros: Job security is pretty solid here. For a big corporate company, the pay and benefits package is decent. Some engineering teams in the Santa Rosa, CA office do offer a hybrid model.
Cons: Work flexibility isn't consistent across teams. As a Software Engineer, I've found many test and measurement projects require more onsite time than expected. It doesn't always feel like a true hybrid experience, more like mandatory office days.
Advice to Management: Standardize the hybrid work policy for all engineering and R&D roles. Be more transparent about actual onsite requirements, especially for new hires in the electronics R&D sector.

Solid Place for Stability, But Watch Out
Pros: As a Software Engineer in the test and measurement industry, I've found job security here is pretty decent. They're a big tech company with a long history, which makes you feel secure. The company isn't going anywhere anytime soon.
Cons: Sometimes projects get shifted or cancelled suddenly without much warning, which can be unsettling. For certain roles, especially in the Santa Rosa, CA office, career growth can feel a bit stagnant, making you question long-term prospects.
Advice to Management: Give teams clearer roadmaps for projects. Focus on better internal mobility programs, especially for experienced engineers who want to grow within the company.

Pretty solid job security for engineers
Pros: As a Software Engineer, the job security at this big tech company is definitely a strong point. Keysight has a really diverse product portfolio in test and measurement, so we're not tied to just one market. You feel pretty safe here, even with economic shifts.
Cons: Things can feel a bit slow-paced sometimes, which isn't great for career growth if you're ambitious. There are re-orgs occasionally, which can shake things up even if roles usually get re-assigned. The corporate environment can feel a bit rigid.
Advice to Management: Focus more on clear growth paths for Software Engineer roles. Speed up decision-making a bit to keep up with industry changes.

Decent Culture for Established Engineers
Pros: Job security and benefits are really good here. As a Senior Software Engineer, I found solid collaboration in the Santa Rosa office for our test and validation projects. People are generally helpful.
Cons: The culture can feel pretty slow, especially when trying to implement new ideas. It's very corporate, so there's a lot of red tape. Career growth for junior roles might feel a bit stagnant.
Advice to Management: Try to empower teams more to make quicker decisions. Reduce some of the corporate bureaucracy to help R&D move faster. Encourage more internal mobility for career development.

Career Growth is Okay, You'll Need to Push
Pros: There's a pretty steady path for engineering roles, especially as a Software Engineer. The internal training and resources are decent for skill development in test and measurement. As a big tech company, there's always new R&D projects happening.
Cons: Career growth isn't always organic; you really have to advocate for yourself here. Promotions for individual contributors can feel slow in the Santa Rosa, CA office. Sometimes it feels like you're pigeonholed into a specific product area, limiting broader experience.
Advice to Management: Focus on clearer career ladders, especially for technical individual contributors. Be more proactive about internal mobility and cross-functional opportunities to help employees broaden their skills.
