Work-life balance is tough in hospitality
Pros: The team culture among us Front Desk Associates was pretty solid. We'd help each other out during busy shifts in the hospitality industry. It's a gorgeous resort to work at in Cebu City.
Cons: Work-life balance is almost non-existent. Expect long hours, often 10-12 hour shifts, especially on weekends and holidays. As a Front Desk Associate, you don't get much time off for personal stuff.
Advice to Management: Management needs to look into staffing levels for guest services. Better shift scheduling could really help Front Desk Associates avoid burnout and improve morale.

Management needs to step up their game
Pros: The team you work with is generally solid. You learn a lot about the hospitality industry and managing guest experience as a Front Desk Agent. It's a busy large resort in Cebu, Philippines, so there's always something happening.
Cons: Upper management often feels out of touch. There's not much clear direction or support, especially for us onsite resort staff working the front lines. It can be frustrating when you need quick decisions and can't get them.
Advice to Management: Please invest in better leadership training for managers. Clearer communication from the top down would really help. Also, listen more to the frontline resort staff.

Okay Culture for Hospitality Staff
Pros: Working as a Front Desk Agent, the team here is pretty solid. Everyone helps each other out, which is good in the fast-paced hospitality industry. Being onsite in Cebu, the location is a definite plus for many.
Cons: Management can be a bit disconnected from daily resort operations. There's not always clear communication from the top. It's tough to feel heard sometimes in such a big resort.
Advice to Management: Try to be more present on the ground floor. Listen to feedback from frontline staff, especially those in resort operations. Better communication would make a huge difference.

Decent Place, But Flexibility Is Tough
Pros: As a Front Desk Agent, I got to learn a lot about resort operations and guest services. The team at NUSTAR in Cebu is generally supportive, which is a big plus for hospitality. We do get some decent employee perks on resort amenities sometimes.
Cons: Work flexibility is a real challenge here. Getting your shifts changed or swapping with colleagues can be a headache. For many hospitality roles, especially as a Front Desk Agent in Cebu, it's pretty much all onsite, so don't expect any WFH options.
Advice to Management: Consider more creative scheduling solutions for staff. Maybe even look into hybrid models for non-frontline resort roles to improve overall employee satisfaction and retention.
