Pros: My immediate team leads are pretty solid. They really understand the technical challenges for a Software Engineer. The hybrid work model helps for work-life balance too.
Cons: Upper management often feels super out of touch with daily engineering tasks. There's a lot of corporate bureaucracy in this big tech company. Decisions can take forever to trickle down to the Morrisville, NC office.
Advice to Management: Listen more to the technical teams on the ground. Try to simplify the decision-making process for engineering projects. Focus on clear communication from the top down.

Pros: The hybrid work model is a big plus at Lenovo. You get decent PTO, and most weeks stick to a standard 40-hour schedule. Being a big tech company, the benefits package is solid.
Cons: During crunch times, especially in the product development lifecycle, work-life balance can totally disappear. Management sometimes pushes for long hours to hit tough deadlines. It's hard to say no without feeling like you're letting the team down.
Advice to Management: Please try to protect your teams from burnout. Don't let projects continually expand scope or force unrealistic timelines. Empower managers to push back on impossible deadlines.

Pros: I've found job security here to be pretty solid as a Senior Software Engineer. The Raleigh office definitely has a lot of long-timers, which feels reassuring. As a big tech company in the PC industry, they don't just axe departments without a lot of thought.
Cons: However, you do see some layoffs, especially if you're in specific hardware development groups that aren't hitting targets. It's not a 'job for life' situation, so you've got to keep your skills sharp, especially with shifts in consumer electronics. Team reorgs happen too, and that can feel a bit unsettling at times.
Advice to Management: Keep investing in your long-term talent, especially in core product development. Communication around reorgs could be more transparent.
