Job Overview:
The Technology Specialist is responsible for delivering reliable, secure, and efficient IT services for the McDermott Kuala Lumpur office.
This role acts as the primary point of contact for both on-site and remote users for all IT-related issues, including PC and server networking, email systems, LAN/WAN connectivity, IP telephony, video conferencing solutions, IT asset inventory, and production IT incidents and service requests.
Responsibilities
Key Tasks and Responsibilities:
- Provide L1, L2, and L3 end-user support, ensuring timely resolution of incidents and service requests in line with SLAs
- Diagnose, test, troubleshoot, and resolve end-user technical issues related to desktops, laptops, printers, and basic network connectivity, while maintaining accurate documentation
- Respond promptly to user requests for information and technical assistance
- Ensure IT service availability and maintain strong user satisfaction levels
- Demonstrate strong troubleshooting and analytical skills, taking full ownership of incidents through to resolution
- Support and maintain local IT infrastructure, including LAN, Wi-Fi, VPN, system patching, and asset lifecycle management
- Manage asset lifecycle, including provisioning, maintenance, and decommissioning
- Maintain accurate documentation of configurations, issues, and resolutions
- Manage onboarding and offboarding processes, including device provisioning and access management
- Assist in incident response, root cause analysis, and risk mitigation activities
- Support problem management through collaboration with IT teams and coordinated troubleshooting
- Adhere to ITIL-based service management practices and comply with response and resolution SLAs
- Support endpoint security controls, Data Loss Prevention (DLP), and audit compliance aligned with ISO standards
- Maintain IT asset tracking, warranties, and inventory compliance
- Deliver IT services in adherence to organizational policies and procedures (Unifi standards)
- Support Business Continuity Planning (BCP) and Business Impact Analysis (BIA) activities
- Participate in testing, validation, and continuous improvement of continuity plans
- Enable engineering project delivery by providing reliable and efficient IT services
- Contribute to digital transformation and continuous improvement initiatives
- Coordinate with external vendors for IT support, maintenance, and procurement activities
- Communicate technical concepts effectively to non-technical users, management, and peers (both verbal and written)
- Perform any additional duties as assigned by the Site IT Lead or Manager Technology
Qualifications
Essential Qualifications and Education:
- Degree in Computer Science and related work experience
- 3–5+ years of experience in IT support and infrastructure
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft 365, Windows, endpoint management, and networking
- Experience supporting engineering applications (preferred)
- ITIL V4 (Mandatory)
- Certifications: MD-102, Azure (AZ-900) (Preferred)
