Junior Project Engineer

Okay start for Junior Engineers, but slow advancement.
Pros: As a Junior Project Engineer, I did get solid exposure to various construction projects onsite in Kuala Lumpur. There's a decent chance to learn the ropes from experienced site managers if you're proactive. They do offer some basic training for new hires in the construction industry.
Cons: Career growth here feels pretty slow though. There isn't a clear path for promotion beyond the initial few years, especially for project management roles. Training beyond the basics isn't really a thing, so you have to seek out external learning.
Advice to Management: Create clearer pathways for career progression for your engineering staff. Invest more in ongoing professional development and training beyond the entry-level.

Leadership is okay, but needs a refresh
Pros: As a Site Supervisor, I've seen some good things on Kuala Lumpur construction sites. Project managers are solid when it comes to technical stuff and keeping construction projects moving. They really know their stuff in the building industry.
Cons: The communication from senior leadership in this mid-sized construction firm isn't always great. Sometimes we don't get clear direction, especially for long-term project planning. It makes onsite work tougher than it needs to be.
Advice to Management: Try to improve communication across all levels, not just project-specific updates. Clearer long-term vision would help everyone on site.

Tough Hours, Zero Flexibility for Project Engineers
Pros: The team on the project sites is really solid; we work well together. They always pay on time, which is a big deal for the construction industry. You can learn a lot about different construction methods here too.
Cons: Work-life balance is pretty bad. Expect very long hours as a Project Engineer. There's almost no work flexibility for onsite staff; WFH just isn't an option. Management doesn't seem to care much about staff burnout.
Advice to Management: Please consider adding some form of flexibility or support for site-based Project Engineers. It would really help with morale and reduce turnover.
