Culture's okay, but it's a grind

Honestly, working at SPX Express in the Dallas, TX office was a mixed bag. The company culture had its moments, but overall, it felt pretty demanding for a Logistics Coordinator.

Pros

I really liked my direct team; we had each other's backs, which is huge in the busy delivery industry. There's also decent variety in the day-to-day tasks, so it doesn't get too stale.

Cons

The general company culture felt pretty competitive, especially among middle management. It's tough to feel like your efforts are truly seen beyond hitting strict daily metrics, which leads to employee burnout and less team spirit.

Advice to Management

Focus on building a more collaborative environment rather than solely pushing for individual metrics. Employee recognition beyond just bonuses would go a long way for morale.

Leadership needs a reality check for frontline staff
Pros: The team itself is great, everyone pitches in to help. For a mid-sized company in the logistics industry, the benefits package isn't terrible, especially the health insurance plan. I've learned a lot about supply chain operations.
Cons: Leadership can be really out of touch with what frontline Logistics Coordinators actually deal with day-to-day. Communication from the top down is inconsistent, leading to a lot of last-minute scrambles and confusion. There's not much support or recognition when things go well, only when there's an issue.
Advice to Management: Spend more time understanding the challenges faced by onsite staff in roles like a Logistics Coordinator. Improve communication channels and provide clearer expectations to all teams to reduce last-minute stress.

Hybrid Model at SPX Express is Okay
Pros: The hybrid model for Logistics Coordinator roles is a decent start. I appreciated the ability to work from home a couple of days a week, which is good for avoiding Dallas traffic. It's better than being fully onsite in the supply chain industry.
Cons: However, true work flexibility isn't really there; you have to be in the office three set days. It feels more like a fixed schedule than real choice, especially for those with longer commutes. There's not much room to shift days around when personal stuff comes up, which can be tough.
Advice to Management: Consider allowing more flexible hybrid schedules or giving teams some autonomy on which days they come in. True work flexibility would really help retention in our logistics operations.

Pay is Decent, Benefits are a Bit Rough
Pros: As a Delivery Driver in Chicago, IL, the hourly pay is pretty decent. It's competitive for this kind of role in the logistics industry. You can make good money if you're willing to work the extra delivery routes.
Cons: The benefits package isn't great, honestly. Healthcare premiums are super high, so it eats into your take-home pay. There's not much paid time off either, which is tough for driver roles.
Advice to Management: Management should really look at improving the benefits package, especially healthcare costs. Offering more competitive PTO would also make a big difference for employee retention.
