Leadership can be a bit disconnected
Pros: I've had some really solid project leads who actually care. The remote work flexibility is a big plus, which is key for a lot of us in the tech consulting industry now. My team is great.
Cons: Higher leadership often feels pretty distant from the daily grind for us Software Engineers. Strategic decisions aren't always communicated well, or they change without much explanation. It can be frustrating.
Advice to Management: Work on improving communication channels from executive leadership down to individual contributors. More transparency in decision-making would go a long way in retaining talent.

It's Decent, But Can Get Busy
Pros: I liked the flexibility with the hybrid model; it's nice not to be in the office every day. For a large corporate IT services company, they do try to offer some WFH options, which helps a lot. When projects are calm, it's pretty standard 40-hour weeks.
Cons: The biggest issue is project-dependent workloads; sometimes you're easily pulling 50-60 hour weeks. As a Software Engineer, client deadlines can be brutal, and there's pressure to deliver. It makes long-term planning outside of work tough.
Advice to Management: Try to better manage client expectations and resource allocation so projects don't constantly push engineers into overtime. A more consistent workload would really improve morale and retention for tech consulting roles.

Decent Benefits, Pay Could Be Better for a Software Engineer
Pros: The health insurance is pretty solid here at UST, especially for a big tech company. There's also a decent 401k match, which is a nice perk. The overall benefits package for a Software Engineer is okay.
Cons: Base salaries for IT consulting roles aren't the highest compared to the market. Annual raises are usually pretty small, often just enough to keep up with inflation. Bonuses aren't guaranteed, and they can be really hit or miss.
Advice to Management: Review the salary bands for Software Engineer and other IT consulting roles to stay competitive. More transparent bonus structures would also be helpful for employee motivation.
