Pros: You get some flexibility with the hybrid model, which is nice if you're in the San Jose office. It's not always 9-5, but you can usually manage your time. For an Applications Engineer, the day-to-day can be pretty varied, which keeps things interesting.
Cons: Project deadlines can be tough, especially during critical FPGA development phases. You'll definitely have some long weeks in the semiconductor industry, it's just how it goes. It's hard to avoid crunch time sometimes when a release is coming up.
Advice to Management: Try to even out project loads more so engineers aren't always scrambling. Crunch time burns people out fast, and it's tough to retain good talent that way. Support even more flexible hours for hybrid roles.
