Supply Chain Analyst

Okay flexibility, but room for improvement
Pros: I had some success with occasional WFH days. My direct manager was usually understanding about scheduling. For a Supply Chain Analyst, it was possible to arrange some things, which helped my work-life balance in the medical technology industry.
Cons: The formal hybrid policy is pretty rigid. Upper management really pushes for onsite work, even when it's not always needed. This makes true work flexibility inconsistent across different teams.
Advice to Management: Revisit the hybrid policy. Trust employees more to get work done remotely. A consistent, flexible approach would boost morale, especially for corporate roles.

Decent Flexibility for Field Roles, But Some Hurdles
Pros: As a Clinical Specialist, I've got a lot of autonomy. The hybrid work model really helps with my schedule. It's great being able to manage my own time in the medical device industry.
Cons: Sometimes, management expects you to be available 24/7. It's tough to truly disconnect when you're supporting cases. For field-based roles, the boundaries can get blurry.
Advice to Management: Really try to define clearer boundaries for field teams. Encourage disconnecting when not on call. Support true work-life balance in this demanding medical device sector.

Okay Flexibility for Field Roles in MedTech
Pros: As a Clinical Specialist, I've had decent control over my daily schedule. When I'm not in surgery or clinic visits, I can often manage my administrative tasks from home. This hybrid work setup is a big plus in the medical technology industry.
Cons: There's still a push for face time with managers, which can limit true work flexibility. Some team leads aren't as understanding about remote needs, even for field-based roles. It can feel like WFH is tolerated, not encouraged.
Advice to Management: Encourage managers to fully embrace the spirit of work flexibility, especially for field-based employees. Trust your team to get the job done without needing constant in-person check-ins.

Decent hybrid model, but needs real WFH options.
Pros: They do offer a hybrid work arrangement for some roles, which is good. For my engineering role, it was 3 days in the Andover, MA office and 2 days remote. This was a decent perk compared to fully onsite positions in the medical device industry.
Cons: The 'hybrid' model often felt rigid. There wasn't much flexibility to shift your onsite days. Fully remote work wasn't really an option, even for roles that probably could be. It felt like they wanted you in the corporate building more often than needed.
Advice to Management: Seriously consider more robust work-from-home policies. Many engineering tasks don't require being physically in the office. Trust your employees more.

Hybrid Model is Okay, Still Room to Improve
Pros: The hybrid model is decent; you get a few WFH days a week. It helps manage the commute to the Memphis, TN office. For a Senior Product Engineer, that flexibility is a big plus.
Cons: True flexible hours are tough to come by. There's an unspoken expectation to be online during core hours, even on WFH days. Can't really adjust your start/end times much without a lot of pushback.
Advice to Management: Really embrace flexibility beyond just WFH days. Trust employees to manage their time. Support a more truly asynchronous work environment for specific roles within the medical device industry.

Flexibility is Okay, But Varies By Team
Pros: For many Manufacturing Engineer roles, there's a good hybrid model if your manager is cool with it. The Memphis office generally supports some WFH days, which is nice. It helps manage personal appointments.
Cons: Honestly, the hybrid model isn't consistent across all medical device industry teams here. Some managers are super strict about onsite days. It can be tough to get consistent work flexibility if you're not in certain departments.
Advice to Management: Try to standardize the hybrid model across all departments. It would create a fairer environment for everyone and improve overall employee satisfaction regarding work-life balance.

Field Sales Has Decent Flexibility, But Demanding
Pros: As a Sales Representative, I have autonomy over my schedule. I can often work remotely from Dallas, which is great for managing personal appointments. It's a perk in the medical device industry.
Cons: The demanding sales targets mean true flexibility is limited. You're always on call for surgical products, which cuts into personal time. The corporate environment doesn't always support unplugging after hours.
Advice to Management: Try to balance sales goals with realistic expectations for field-based teams. Empower Sales Representatives more to truly manage their time, not just their territory.
