Work-life balance is okay for my role
Pros: You can find some flexibility here, which is nice. For Clinical Research Associate roles, especially once you're established, there are often hybrid work options if you're in the Research Triangle Park, NC office. It's not too common to pull all-nighters.
Cons: The work can pile up, and sometimes project deadlines in the pharmaceutical industry mean long weeks. It's tough to truly disconnect because the workload is constant. Leadership sometimes pushes for more, which impacts personal time.
Advice to Management: Try to better manage workload expectations, especially for individual contributors. Recognize that 'hybrid work' still needs boundaries for employees to feel supported.

Decent hybrid setup for big pharma
Pros: As a Regulatory Affairs Specialist, I've found GSK's hybrid model pretty solid. You get good WFH days, which helps a lot with balancing life outside the Raleigh-Durham, NC office. It's a common perk for many pharma roles here.
Cons: Sometimes the 'required office days' feel arbitrary, especially when working on drug development projects that don't need in-person meetings. It can make planning tough when teams are split, and some managers aren't great at promoting full flexibility.
Advice to Management: Really look at what roles actually *need* to be in the Raleigh-Durham office on specific days. More trust in employees for WFH would boost morale and productivity.

Stable Big Pharma, But Reorgs Happen
Pros: For a Clinical Research Associate, job security feels solid most of the time. GSK is a huge corporate entity in the pharmaceutical industry. There are always new drug development projects, keeping things steady.
Cons: However, big pharma constantly shifts. We've seen some reorganizations and divestitures in specific areas. It can make you a bit nervous if your department is affected, even if you're a good performer.
Advice to Management: Try to communicate future changes more clearly and earlier. Transparency helps with employee morale and reduces anxiety during transitions.
