Process Engineer

Leadership Varies, Decent for Process Engineers
Pros: I've worked here as a Process Engineer in the Porvoo office for a few years. My direct manager was usually good, always supported my project work in the renewable fuels industry. There's good job security too, which is a plus for a large energy company.
Cons: Upper leadership feels pretty disconnected from daily operations, honestly. It's tough to get new ideas approved, especially for engineering roles. Decision-making can be super slow, which is frustrating sometimes.
Advice to Management: Listen more to the people on the ground. Empower mid-level managers to make faster decisions without so much red tape. Improve communication channels from the top down.

Okay Pay, Benefits Could Be Better
Pros: As a Process Engineer, the base salary was pretty decent, especially for an entry-level role in the renewable fuels industry. The standard healthcare and pension benefits for full-time corporate employees are solid too.
Cons: The annual bonuses weren't very competitive, felt like they were lagging behind other big players in the chemical sector. It was also tough to get a significant salary bump during performance reviews, even with good results.
Advice to Management: Consider reviewing the annual bonus structure to make it more competitive within the industry. Also, creating clearer paths for salary progression beyond just inflation adjustments would help retain talent, especially for technical roles like Process Engineer.

Okay Place, Long Hours Sometimes
Pros: The compensation package is pretty solid for the renewable energy sector, and benefits are decent. I really liked my team members; they were supportive and smart. The hybrid model definitely helps a bit with daily flexibility.
Cons: Work-life balance here is tough, especially during peak project cycles. As a Process Engineer, I often found myself working late evenings. There's a lot of pressure to meet tight deadlines in the Espoo office.
Advice to Management: Managers need to be more mindful of employee workloads and project allocation. Encourage taking proper breaks and disconnecting after hours to prevent burnout. Focus on realistic timelines for sustainable solutions projects.

Decent pay, but career growth can be slow
Pros: The pay and benefits package is really solid, especially for the energy sector. You get good stability working for a big corporate, and there are opportunities to work on interesting renewable fuels projects.
Cons: However, career progression is definitely a challenge. As a Process Engineer, I found it tough to move up, and internal mobility feels pretty limited in the Espoo office. You can feel a bit stuck after a few years.
Advice to Management: Management should really look into creating clearer paths for career advancement and promoting more internal movement. It would help a lot with employee retention and morale, especially for those in technical roles.
