Account Manager

Work-life balance can be decent, but tough.
Pros: I liked the hybrid work option available, it's a lifesaver for personal errands. Being based in the Singapore office, I've had some good managers who respect your time outside work. It makes a difference.
Cons: As an Account Manager in channel sales, the end of quarter is always brutal. You're definitely working more than 40 hour weeks then. There's not much flexibility during those peak times.
Advice to Management: Try to spread out the workload better, especially for the sales teams. Maybe acknowledge the extra hours during peak times.

Decent Work-Life for an IT Distributor
Pros: As an Account Manager here, the work flexibility is a big plus. I've often been able to do hybrid work, which really helps balance things. Getting my 20 days of annual leave is usually smooth, too.
Cons: Sometimes the pressure in IT distribution sales gets intense, especially at quarter-end. You can easily end up working 50+ hour weeks during those times. It's tough to really switch off from the corporate grind.
Advice to Management: Try to smooth out the quarter-end crunch for sales teams. Better staffing or tools might help Account Managers avoid burnout and maintain better work-life balance.

Leadership is decent but needs more consistency
Pros: Some team leads are really good; they genuinely support you as a Solutions Architect. You get decent exposure to new vendor partnerships and cutting-edge cloud solutions, which is great for career growth in this IT distribution industry. The hybrid model in the Singapore office is also a plus for flexibility.
Cons: Leadership can be hit or miss. There's a lack of clear direction from upper management sometimes, especially with new initiatives. It feels like they don't always listen to feedback from us in technical roles, which gets frustrating. Decision-making can be slow in this big corporate environment.
Advice to Management: Listen more to the ground-level teams. Provide clearer strategic guidance and improve communication across departments. Empower mid-level managers with more decision-making authority.

Okay Flexibility for Sales Roles Here
Pros: Working from home a few days a week is a big plus for Account Manager roles. They've got a decent hybrid work setup in the Singapore office, which helps with the commute.
Cons: It's not truly flexible though; you still need to be in the office on specific days, so last-minute WFH isn't really an option. For the IT distribution industry, it feels a bit behind some competitors.
Advice to Management: Consider truly empowering employees with more autonomy over WFH days instead of fixed schedules. It would make a big difference for morale and productivity.

Okay Flexibility for IT Distribution Roles
Pros: The hybrid work model is a decent perk, especially for `Sales Support Specialist` roles. We usually get to work from home a couple of days a week. It helps manage personal appointments without too much hassle, which is great for `work-life balance` in the `IT distribution` industry.
Cons: Full `remote work` isn't really an option here, so you're still expected in the `Singapore office` most days. Sometimes, flexibility drops during critical project phases or quarter-end, which can be tough. It's not a super flexible startup vibe; it's a corporate gig.
Advice to Management: Consider reviewing and potentially expanding the `work flexibility` options for certain `back-office roles`, especially given current `tech industry` trends. More options could really boost morale.

Hybrid Model is Okay, Not Truly Flexible
Pros: The `hybrid` setup is a start for an `IT distribution` company. Being able to `work from home` two days a week helps with the commute in `Singapore`, especially when you need to focus on proposals.
Cons: But it's not truly flexible. `Onsite` attendance is still pretty rigid on specific days. As a `Sales Specialist`, it's tough when client meetings shift, and you're stuck in the office on a WFH day.
Advice to Management: Trust employees more with true `work flexibility`. Allow more discretion for `remote work` for roles like `Sales Specialist`. It would boost morale and productivity, especially in `IT distribution` where schedules can be unpredictable.

Decent for IT distribution, but culture needs work
Pros: It's a huge name in IT distribution across APAC, so there's good job security. You get solid exposure to many vendor partners, which is great for Channel Sales Specialists. The hybrid work model is a plus, offering some flexibility.
Cons: The company culture can feel pretty old-school and bureaucratic. Decisions move slow for a big corporate, especially in the Singapore office. Sometimes it feels like there's less focus on innovation and more on just hitting numbers.
Advice to Management: Try to foster a more modern and agile company culture. Encourage more cross-departmental collaboration and speed up decision-making for those in sales roles. Focus more on innovation rather than just status quo.

Okay for experience, not much growth for Sales
Pros: I've learned a lot about the IT distribution industry here, which is solid for building your resume. The team dynamic as a Sales Account Manager was mostly good, people help each other out with difficult client situations.
Cons: Career growth is pretty slow, especially for individual contributors in channel sales. It's tough to move up unless someone leaves, and internal promotions aren't very transparent. Don't expect rapid advancement in this corporate environment.
Advice to Management: Management should really look into clearer career paths and promotion opportunities for roles like Sales Account Manager. It'd help keep good talent around and boost morale.

Solid benefits, but base pay needs work
Pros: The medical and dental coverage is really good; it's a big plus. There's also a pretty decent retirement plan available. These benefits help make the overall package for an Account Manager quite competitive.
Cons: The base salary for IT distribution roles isn't fantastic for the market here. It's tough to hit bonus targets, so your total compensation can be unpredictable. Other large corporate companies often pay more for similar roles in the Singapore office.
Advice to Management: Focus on bringing base salaries for key roles like Account Manager up to market rates. This would really help attract and keep top talent, especially given the competitive landscape for IT distribution professionals in Singapore.

Leadership's fine, but could be clearer
Pros: Some team leads and mid-managers are solid. They really know the IT distribution business, especially for our channel partners. It's good to learn from them when you're here in the Singapore office.
Cons: The upper management, especially for broader APAC strategy, feels a bit detached. Big corporate decisions don't always make sense on the ground. As a Sales Specialist, it's sometimes tough to align.
Advice to Management: Work on improving communication from regional leadership to the local teams. More clarity on overall APAC strategy would really help frontline employees like us in the IT distribution sector.
