Sales Associate

Decent for some, tough for others in sales
Pros: It's a big corporate company, so there's some stability if you hit your numbers. For a Sales Associate in IT distribution, the client base is huge, so you're not starting from zero. The Irvine, CA office is pretty modern too, which is nice.
Cons: Job security feels tricky, especially with all the restructuring they do. If you miss sales targets, they don't really hesitate to let people go. It can be tough in this tech logistics space when things slow down.
Advice to Management: Focus more on employee retention and growth within sales. Constant fear of layoffs impacts morale and long-term commitment.

Leadership is hit or miss, depends on your team.
Pros: My immediate supervisor in the Mira Loma, CA distribution center was supportive and knew the ropes. There's a lot of knowledge to gain if you're new to tech distribution, especially for these types of onsite supply chain roles. It's a stable, big corporate environment, so job security feels pretty solid.
Cons: Upper management often doesn't seem to understand the daily grind for Logistics Coordinator roles. Decisions often feel slow and out of touch with what's happening on the floor. Don't expect much innovation from the top in general supply chain management.
Advice to Management: Engage more with frontline employees. Really try to understand the daily challenges folks face, especially in the distribution centers. It'd make a huge difference.

Pay and Benefits are Just Okay Here
Pros: The health benefits package is actually pretty solid for the IT distribution industry. Dental and vision coverage are decent, which is a good thing. The 401k match is also okay, not the best but it's there.
Cons: Base pay as a Logistics Coordinator in the Irvine, CA office feels a bit low for the cost of living. Raises aren't very frequent, and bonuses are pretty rare too. It's tough to feel truly valued compensation-wise.
Advice to Management: Management should really look into competitive pay scales for current roles, especially in high cost-of-living areas. More frequent raises and clearer bonus structures would help a lot with employee morale and retention.

Okay Pay, Benefits Could Be Better
Pros: The health benefits are pretty good here, especially for a large IT distribution company. Dental and vision coverage is decent. Plus, the 401k match is a nice perk once you've been here a bit.
Cons: Salary for entry to mid-level supply chain roles feels a bit low for the cost of living in Irvine, CA. There's not much room for big raises unless you get promoted. And bonus potential isn't great either, even with good performance.
Advice to Management: Re-evaluate salary bands for supply chain and operations roles, especially in high cost-of-living areas like Irvine. Consider increasing bonus structures to better reward high performers.

Decent place, but culture needs work
Pros: The benefits are solid for a big corporate company, especially the health insurance. As a Logistics Coordinator, I learned a lot about the global supply chain, which is great for building skills in IT distribution.
Cons: The company culture feels pretty old-school sometimes. It's tough to get new ideas heard, and there isn't much drive for innovation from the top. The hybrid work setup can also feel a bit rigid.
Advice to Management: Try to be more open to new ideas, especially for supply chain roles. Empower teams to innovate a bit more.

Sales Account Manager

Leadership is Okay, But Needs More Direction
Pros: Some of the direct managers are genuinely supportive. They really try to help you grow in your sales career. The hybrid model for work also gives decent flexibility, which is a plus for the Irvine, CA office.
Cons: Upper leadership often feels disconnected from the day-to-day for Sales Account Manager roles. Decisions can seem top-down without much input, which makes navigating the tech distribution landscape tougher. Communication about strategic shifts isn't always clear.
Advice to Management: Try to connect more with frontline Sales Account Managers. Get their input before making big changes, especially in tech distribution strategy. Better communication from senior leadership would help a lot.

Job security? Not a sure thing at Ingram Micro.
Pros: Being a big corporate player in IT distribution means there's always work, and the client base is huge. As an Account Manager, you get exposure to a lot of different products and vendor relationships which is good for your resume.
Cons: Layoffs are a common worry, especially in the Irvine, CA office. It feels like every few years there's a restructure. You never really feel truly safe here, which makes long-term career planning tough.
Advice to Management: Be more transparent about company direction and value employees more. The constant worry about layoffs makes it hard for people to commit long-term.

Leadership is a mixed bag here
Pros: My direct supervisor was pretty solid. They actually understand what it's like for us as an IT Support Specialist day-to-day. There's a decent team vibe in the Irvine, CA office when you're working directly with your peers.
Cons: Upper management in this big corporate place often feels disconnected from the front lines. They don't seem to grasp the real challenges in IT distribution, especially for those of us supporting complex tech issues. It's tough to see a clear career path when leadership direction shifts so often.
Advice to Management: Try to bridge the gap between executive decisions and the daily grind. More transparent communication from leadership on where the company is headed, especially for IT teams, would really help engagement.

Okay for a Start, But Career Growth Stalls
Pros: You learn a lot about the IT supply chain and vendor relationships. It's a solid place for entry-level sales roles to gain initial experience, especially if you're fresh out of college.
Cons: Career growth here is tough. There aren't many clear paths to move up from an Inside Sales Representative unless you really push it. Vertical movement within account management roles can be really slow.
Advice to Management: Management needs to create more defined career paths for sales roles. Invest in training and mentorship programs that clearly lead to promotions, not just lateral moves within tech distribution.

Decent Pay, Benefits Could Use a Boost
Pros: The base pay for an Account Manager in the Irvine office was pretty competitive, especially starting out. They offered a pretty good 401k match, which is nice. Health insurance options were decent for me and my family.
Cons: Bonuses for IT distribution sales felt really hard to achieve, even when I hit targets. It felt like compensation didn't always reflect the amount of effort. There aren't many extra perks or modern benefits you see at other big tech companies.
Advice to Management: Revisit the bonus structure for sales roles to make it more achievable and motivating. Consider adding more modern benefits to stay competitive in the IT industry.
