Hybrid Work Is Okay, But True Flexibility Lags
Pros: As a Recruitment Consultant, I appreciated the hybrid work setup they offer. It's nice to have a few remote days a week, which isn't always common in the staffing industry, especially for client-facing roles. The London office is pretty central too.
Cons: While there's a hybrid policy, true flexibility for last-minute needs can be tough. It feels like you're expected to be in the office more often than not, which isn't ideal if you need full WFH for a day. Achieving those sales targets always comes first, so personal flexibility can suffer.
Advice to Management: Maybe allow more discretion for experienced Recruitment Consultants regarding WFH days when personal circumstances require it, rather than a strict office mandate.

Decent Hybrid Setup, But Demands Are High
Pros: The hybrid setup is actually quite good. We got a few days to WFH which helped avoid the commute into the London office. It's nice to have that option for a bit more personal time.
Cons: Even with hybrid, the pressure for billable hours is intense. As a Recruitment Consultant, you're expected to be 'on' constantly, so true work-life balance isn't really there. The flexibility in *when* you work is overshadowed by *how much* you work.
Advice to Management: Revisit expectations around working hours for Recruitment Consultant roles. Genuine flexibility needs to address the workload, not just the location.

Okay flexibility, but room to improve
Pros: There's some decent work flexibility, especially if you're not in a client-facing Recruitment Consultant role every single day. The hybrid model for our London office was a lifesaver sometimes, letting you WFH a couple of days a week.
Cons: But it's not always consistent. For some roles in the fast-paced recruitment industry, you're expected to be in the office a lot. It can make work-life balance a real challenge, especially when client demands pick up.
Advice to Management: Give more genuine autonomy over schedules. Trusting your Recruitment Consultants more with their time would go a long way in improving retention.

Hybrid Work Is Okay, But Still Pretty Strict
Pros: The hybrid model is actually a plus; two days WFH helps a lot. It's better than being fully onsite five days a week, especially as a Recruitment Consultant in the London office. You do get some personal time back.
Cons: Don't expect much work flexibility beyond the set hybrid schedule. Management often prefers you in the office more than two days. It's a very corporate environment focused on presenteeism, which makes it tough for staffing roles sometimes. Can feel like micromanagement.
Advice to Management: Loosen the reins on work flexibility a bit. Trust your recruitment consultants more with their schedules, especially after they hit targets. It would really boost morale and might even improve productivity.

Hybrid work is okay, but could be better
Pros: You do get a hybrid model, which is better than full onsite. We usually get two WFH days a week. It helps a bit with the commute for those of us in the greater Chicago area.
Cons: It's not truly flexible though. You're expected in the office three days, no exceptions. As a Recruitment Consultant, I often felt chained to my desk when I could've been working remotely, which isn't ideal for managing client calls and candidate sourcing effectively. The senior management really pushes for office time, making true work-life balance a bit tough.
Advice to Management: Consider allowing more flexibility for experienced recruitment roles. Trust your consultants to manage their time and clients effectively, regardless of where they're working from. The current hybrid model feels more like a mandate than true flexibility.

Decent WFH options, but still very client-driven
Pros: They've definitely improved with work from home days, especially for Recruitment Consultant roles. You can usually work remote from home a couple of days a week, which helps with the London commute. It's a solid change for the staffing solutions industry.
Cons: The 'flexibility' often depends heavily on your team and client needs, so it's not truly company-wide. You're still expected in the London office quite a bit, especially when starting out. It's not a fully remote setup, despite what some might hope.
Advice to Management: Clarify the hybrid model for Recruitment Consultant roles across all teams. More consistent policies would help everyone manage expectations better, especially for newer hires.

Decent Flexibility, But You Earn It
Pros: I appreciate the hybrid model for Recruitment Consultants here. It's nice to have a few WFH days per week, which really helps with the commute to the New York City office. This arrangement makes the agency life a bit more manageable.
Cons: While the option is there, actually taking advantage of the work flexibility can be tough. Client demands often mean you're on call, even on remote days. It feels like you always have to justify using your WFH days, which isn't ideal.
Advice to Management: Encourage managers to truly support the flexible work policies. Don't make people feel guilty for working remotely when it's allowed by the company.

Hybrid Model Works, But Could Be More Flexible
Pros: I do appreciate the hybrid work option; having a few WFH days each week really helps. As a Recruitment Consultant, it's decent for balancing client meetings and focused work. This helps a lot in the fast-paced recruitment industry.
Cons: The flexibility isn't truly there when certain days are mandatory in the London office. It can be tough to juggle personal appointments, and sometimes it feels like WFH days are just for catching up on admin. There isn't much room to adjust your core office hours.
Advice to Management: Re-evaluate the mandatory office days. Trust your Recruitment Consultants to manage their schedules more independently. True work flexibility would boost morale and show real trust.

Hybrid model is okay for a demanding sales role
Pros: The hybrid model at Michael Page is a real plus. We get a few remote days, which helps a lot, especially as a Recruitment Consultant managing client calls and candidate sourcing. It's good for seasoned sales professionals who manage their own pipeline.
Cons: Even with hybrid, the pressure of a recruitment agency means long hours sometimes. You still need to be in the London office a lot for team meetings or client events. True flexibility can be tough when targets are high.
Advice to Management: Managers should really enforce the hybrid policy more consistently. It'd be great to have clearer boundaries on client expectations for remote days, especially for experienced recruitment consultants.

Decent flexibility for a sales role
Pros: I liked the hybrid work model they offer; it's a 3-2 split, which is decent for the recruitment industry. Being a Recruitment Consultant, I still had some control over my schedule, especially when managing candidate interviews.
Cons: Despite the hybrid policy, there's still a strong emphasis on being in the London office, especially for team meetings. It can feel less flexible if your team leader prefers more face time. Plus, hitting sales targets often means working extra hours, regardless of location.
Advice to Management: Encourage leaders to fully embrace and support the hybrid work model without subtle pressure for more office days. Clearly define how 'flexibility' works alongside hitting demanding sales targets.
