Job Security at RZR is a Bit Unpredictable
Pros: I liked the project work; it was challenging for us as Software Engineers. We got to work on some pretty cool stuff in the tech industry, which kept things interesting. My team felt stable, so daily work wasn't too stressful.
Cons: Job security for individual contributors like me felt pretty shaky sometimes. There's often talk of restructuring or project cancellations, especially with market shifts. If you're looking for a long-term, super stable gig, this isn't it.
Advice to Management: Management needs to be more transparent about the company's future plans. Constant reorg rumors really hurt morale and make people nervous about their positions.

Decent Compensation for Mid-Sized Tech
Pros: As a Software Engineer at RZR, the base salary was pretty competitive, especially considering we're a mid-sized company. For entry-level tech roles in the San Francisco office, it's a solid starting point. Plus, the 401k match is actually decent.
Cons: The real catch is the benefits. Health insurance premiums are way too high, eating into the overall compensation package. Don't expect huge annual bonuses either; they're usually pretty small. It's tough when you see what bigger tech companies offer.
Advice to Management: Seriously look at the health insurance costs for employees. Lowering premiums or increasing company contributions would make a huge difference in overall employee satisfaction and make RZR more competitive against other tech companies in our market.

Decent Pay for Big Tech, But Benefits Need Work
Pros: The base salary for a Software Engineer here is pretty competitive, especially in the Seattle tech industry. You'll get a solid 401k match, which is good for long-term planning.
Cons: Health insurance premiums are super high, it really eats into your paycheck. Don't expect many perks beyond the basics, like no free lunches or fancy gym stipends you see at other big tech places.
Advice to Management: RZR management should really look at lowering health insurance costs for employees. Better perks or a small wellness stipend would also make a huge difference in attracting and keeping talent in this competitive market.

Leadership is hit or miss at RZR
Pros: My immediate team lead was really solid; they offered good support. We have decent autonomy to execute on projects, which is nice as a Product Manager. The hybrid model for work flexibility is a plus, you aren't always stuck in the San Francisco office.
Cons: Senior leadership can be really disconnected. It's tough to get clear decisions, and priorities often shift without warning in software development. There's not enough support for new managers, leading to some turnover.
Advice to Management: Focus on developing your senior leaders more. Improve communication channels and stick to decisions once they are made. Support for middle management is also key.

Growth is okay for new grads, then slows.
Pros: When I first joined, there was solid support for learning new tech stacks. As a Junior Software Engineer, I got a lot of chances to work on different projects and grow fast. Good for entry-level tech roles in a mid-sized tech company.
Cons: Once you hit mid-level, career pathing isn't clear at all. It's tough to find challenging work that pushes you further, especially for senior software development roles. There's not much structure for internal promotions in the Austin office.
Advice to Management: Really need to focus on clear career ladders for experienced staff. Invest in development programs for mid-level engineers.

Career Growth is Okay, But Slow Here
Pros: There are some good internal training resources. As a Software Engineer, the mentorship program is a solid perk, especially in the Minneapolis office. You can definitely pick up new skills if you're proactive.
Cons: Moving up feels really slow. Promotions for engineering roles seem to follow a strict timeline, not always based on actual performance. It's hard to see a clear path for quick advancement in this big corporate environment.
Advice to Management: Make the career progression framework clearer for technical roles, especially for software engineers. Provide more opportunities for accelerated growth based on merit, not just tenure.
