Solid Pay for Engineering, Benefits Could Be Better
Pros: As a Software Engineer in the San Francisco office, the base salary is really competitive for the tech industry. I've always felt fairly compensated for my work, and the annual bonuses are a nice bump too. Stock options vest over time which is pretty standard for big tech.
Cons: The health benefits are just okay, not amazing compared to some other big tech players in the Bay Area. There's no childcare subsidy, which is a real drawback for families. Also, the PTO isn't as generous as I'd hoped for senior engineering roles.
Advice to Management: Consider enhancing the benefits package, especially around family support like childcare, to stay competitive.

Decent Work-Life for Tech, but it Varies
Pros: As a Software Engineer in the Seattle office, I found the work-life balance pretty solid most of the time. The hybrid schedule (3 days in office) helps a lot with personal appointments. Most weeks you're looking at 40-45 hours, which isn't bad for big tech.
Cons: Sprint cycles can get really intense, especially nearing deadlines. It's tough to avoid longer days then, which impacts personal time for engineering roles. Remote flexibility isn't as strong as I'd hoped for core software development work.
Advice to Management: Try to smooth out the sprint cycles better. It's hard to maintain work-life balance when crunch times are so predictable and intense for engineering teams.

Decent Hybrid Setup, But Remote Options Are Limited
Pros: As a Software Engineer here, the hybrid model in the Seattle office is pretty solid. We get to WFH a few days a week, which really helps with commute times. It's a nice perk for a big tech company, making the work-life balance a bit easier.
Cons: Don't expect full remote work; it's not really an option for most roles, even for engineering. The onsite requirements can feel a bit rigid sometimes, especially when team members aren't always in the office anyway. Wish there was more flexibility there.
Advice to Management: Reconsider the strict onsite policy for roles that can genuinely be done remotely. Give teams more autonomy on their work arrangements to boost morale and retention, especially for senior tech roles.
