Tough to grow for engineering roles here
Pros: The product, which is open-source SaaS billing, is genuinely interesting. I've learned a lot about subscription management and the code base is pretty modern. Plus, working remote from Europe is a huge plus for flexibility.
Cons: Career progression is a real struggle for engineers. There isn't a clear path for promotions or skill development. As a Software Engineer, I felt stuck doing similar tasks without much chance to lead new projects. It's a startup, so you expect some chaos, but the lack of structured growth is a drag.
Advice to Management: You guys need to put more effort into career development plans. Especially for us individual contributors in engineering. A clear promotion framework would help a lot.

Pay's fine for a startup, benefits are just okay.
Pros: My base salary as a Software Engineer here is actually pretty good. It's competitive for a fintech startup in today's market. Being fully remote helps with the overall value, too.
Cons: The benefits aren't super generous, to be honest. Health insurance deductible feels a bit high for me. Stock options aren't as appealing as at some bigger SaaS companies.
Advice to Management: Try to beef up the benefits package. Better health plans or more attractive stock options would really help attract and keep talent in this competitive fintech space.

Startup Culture: Room to grow, but a bit chaotic
Pros: I've found the team to be super collaborative, which is great for a Software Engineer. Everyone's open to sharing knowledge. The remote work setup is solid, offering good flexibility. It's cool to be part of a growing FinTech startup.
Cons: Being a newer company, the internal processes aren't always clear. Sometimes getting firm direction can be tough. There isn't much in the way of structured mentorship for people early in their careers.
Advice to Management: Try to formalize some key processes. Also, think about implementing stronger mentorship programs for new hires.

Leadership Has Potential, But It's A Work In Progress
Pros: I've really liked my team; they're super collaborative and smart. The product for usage-based billing is solid, and there's a lot of interesting FinOps tech. The remote work setup is a big plus too.
Cons: Leadership can feel a bit all over the place. As a Billing Operations Specialist, I sometimes struggled with getting clear direction on new initiatives. It makes career growth for SaaS billing roles tough when strategy shifts so often.
Advice to Management: Focus on clearer communication and a more stable strategic vision. Give your managers the tools and autonomy to lead their teams effectively without constant pivots. More stable leadership would boost morale.

Pretty good flexibility for a growing startup
Pros: I really liked the hybrid work setup. It gave me a good balance between working from the Paris office and getting stuff done remotely. For a growing startup, they're pretty understanding about scheduling, especially for individual contributor roles.
Cons: Sometimes it felt like managers didn't always apply the flexibility policies evenly. There wasn't much room to adjust core hours without a specific reason, which can be tough if you have personal appointments. It's not fully remote for everyone.
Advice to Management: Try to ensure all teams and managers apply work flexibility policies consistently. More options for flexible core hours would really help boost morale and productivity across the board.

Decent place, but job security feels shaky
Pros: I did learn a lot as a Software Engineer here, especially working on the core billing infrastructure. The team members are smart, and the remote setup from California was really convenient. It's a fast-paced environment if you like that.
Cons: Job security here isn't great, especially for a fintech startup in this market. There's always talk about funding or shifts, and it makes you nervous. I've seen a few people leave recently, which doesn't help.
Advice to Management: Focus on clearer communication regarding the company's financial health and future plans. Transparency about the path forward would really help with employee morale and job security perceptions for engineering roles.
