Pros: For a corporate role in the renewable energy industry, the hybrid setup is a plus. I get 2-3 days remote from my Houston, TX office, which helps with my commute. It's good for a Renewable Energy Project Engineer where site visits are often necessary.
Cons: True work flexibility can be tough. The hybrid schedule is pretty fixed, and it's not really a work-from-anywhere vibe. Sometimes project demands for wind power or solar farms mean unexpected onsite days, which impacts my personal schedule. It's hard to get more WFH days even when tasks don't require presence.
Advice to Management: Consider more flexible options for project engineers, especially when tasks can be done remotely. Revisit the hybrid policy to allow for more individual team discretion rather than a blanket rule. This could really boost morale and retention.
