Leadership is a Mixed Bag Here
Working at CUBE had its ups and downs, especially around how leadership operates. Some teams have really solid leads, but top-level management often feels disconnected from the day-to-day. As a software engineer, I really valued the technical challenges, but the lack of clear direction from above could be frustrating.
My direct manager was awesome and gave good technical feedback. You get to work on some really interesting software development problems for a mid-sized tech company. There's a decent focus on professional growth if you seek it out.
Upper management often makes decisions that don't make sense on the ground. It feels like they're out of touch with what the engineering teams actually need. Communication from leadership isn't always clear, especially in the San Francisco office.
Try to connect more with individual contributors. Listen to the engineering teams' feedback before making big strategy changes. Invest in better training for middle and senior leadership on effective communication.
