Work-life balance is okay, could be better

My time as a Recruitment Specialist at MicroSourcing was pretty standard for the BPO industry. The work-life balance isn't bad, but it really depends on your project and team.

Pros

I liked the fixed shifts, which helped plan my personal life. For an onsite role in the BPO industry, it's pretty solid. Weekends were usually free, which is a big plus.

Cons

It's tough when client demands ramp up. Overtime can happen frequently, especially for us Recruitment Specialists, and it's not always paid well. Sometimes you feel chained to your desk.

Advice to Management

Try to manage client expectations better so teams aren't constantly swamped. Clearer guidelines for overtime pay would also help boost morale.

Hybrid Work is Decent for BPO Roles
Pros: It's pretty good for work flexibility here, especially for Client Support Specialists. The hybrid setup means you get a couple of days WFH, which really helps with traffic in Manila. It's a solid perk in the IT outsourcing industry.
Cons: But don't expect full remote work, that's rare. Sometimes getting WFH approved for an extra day feels like pulling teeth. There isn't much personal flexibility if you need to adjust your core hours often.
Advice to Management: Standardize WFH approvals across teams and consider more options for flexible hours for long-term employees.

Leadership can be a mixed bag here
Pros: Some of the team leads are really supportive, especially when you're new to BPO operations. You can learn a lot if you're keen. They've also had decent WFH options for Project Coordinator roles which helps with work-life balance.
Cons: Upper management often feels pretty disconnected from what we do daily in the Manila office. Career growth is tough, especially for those of us in more specialized offshore staffing roles. It's frustrating when big decisions get made without much input.
Advice to Management: Try to bridge the gap between upper management and the operational teams. More transparency and clearer pathways for career advancement in offshore staffing would really boost morale and retention.

Onsite most of the time, not much flexibility
Pros: The pay is decent for a BPO company in Manila, and they're reliable with salary payments, which is good. You get solid benefits like health insurance right away, that's a big plus.
Cons: Work flexibility is almost non-existent for onsite BPO roles, especially for Data Entry Specialist positions. It's a strict 9-to-5 or fixed shift in the Manila office. WFH options are super rare, even if you ask. It's not a place for hybrid work.
Advice to Management: Management should really think about offering more hybrid work models or at least occasional WFH days. It'd boost morale and help keep people around in this competitive BPO industry.
