Operations Analyst

Flexibility is there, but it's limited
Pros: As an operations analyst in the Dubai office, there's some understanding for personal appointments. You can usually adjust your start time by an hour or so if you talk to your manager. It helps with basic life stuff sometimes.
Cons: For most maritime industry roles, don't expect real remote or hybrid options. It's an onsite company culture for sure. They don't really support working from home often, which can make planning tough.
Advice to Management: Consider implementing a more formal hybrid work policy or at least allowing more occasional remote days for roles that can handle it. The current onsite-heavy approach can feel a bit rigid for employees looking for better work-life integration.

Work-Life Balance is a Mixed Bag Here
Pros: Sometimes, especially with certain maritime projects, you get flexible days after tough offshore assignments. It's a nice perk when it happens, letting you recharge a bit. The Dubai office has a good setup and the team for shipping classification is generally supportive.
Cons: Work-life balance is really tough as a Classification Engineer. You're often working 50-60 hour weeks, especially with tight client deadlines. There's not much work flexibility here; it's mostly onsite or field-based, which impacts personal time quite a lot.
Advice to Management: Try to manage client expectations better for project timelines. More support for offshore and field-based engineers would really help improve morale and reduce burnout. Consider offering more flexible work options where possible, especially for experienced technical roles.

Project Coordinator

Leadership Can Be A Mixed Bag Here
Pros: The leadership team is quite knowledgeable about the maritime industry. They've been around, so they really understand the classification society standards. For project coordinator roles, you get good exposure to different global projects.
Cons: Sometimes management struggles with clear communication. Decisions can feel top-down without much input, especially for those in engineering roles. It's mostly an onsite role in the Dubai office, so flexibility isn't really a thing, and leadership doesn't push for it.
Advice to Management: Focus on improving internal communication and getting leadership teams aligned on strategic goals. Empower middle management more and consider more flexible work options where possible.
