Pay is fine for role, but benefits need work
Pros: As a Digital Marketing Specialist in the New York City office, the base salary was pretty decent, especially for junior-mid roles. It's competitive with other global digital production agencies in the area. Health insurance coverage was solid, which is always a plus.
Cons: The benefits package itself could use an overhaul; the 401k match was pretty weak, definitely not what you'd expect from a company this size. PTO felt a bit stingy, making it hard to take much time off. Overall, there's not much room for negotiation on compensation either.
Advice to Management: Seriously look at improving the 401k match and adding more robust PTO options. It would help retain talent in this competitive digital marketing industry.

Pay is okay, benefits could be better
Pros: They do offer decent health insurance here. You also get a pretty solid pension plan, which is good. For a big agency, the overall benefit package isn't terrible.
Cons: The base salary for a Junior Project Manager in the Amsterdam office felt a bit low. I didn't see much in the way of performance bonuses for production roles. It's hard to feel truly valued when the pay doesn't quite reflect your efforts in digital production.
Advice to Management: Review salaries, especially for entry to mid-level positions in digital production. Better performance incentives would help with retention.

Good vibes, but the grind is real
Pros: The team here at Monks in the Los Angeles, CA office is genuinely cool. There's a real sense of camaraderie, especially among the junior creative roles. We often have fun team lunches and happy hours, which helps build a decent company culture.
Cons: Work-life balance is tough; it often feels like a constant sprint in digital advertising. You'll definitely be putting in more than 40 hour weeks, which can burn you out. The hybrid model means you're in the office a lot, sometimes for no clear reason.
Advice to Management: Try to manage project timelines better to avoid constant crunch times. A clearer vision for the hybrid model would also help, so we're not just in the LA office for arbitrary reasons.

Culture is okay, but it's changing fast
Pros: I really liked the team I worked with directly in the NYC office. People were generally supportive, which is huge when you're managing complex client projects. There were also some decent social events that helped build team spirit for the digital agency.
Cons: Lately, the overall company culture feels less cohesive. There's a lot of pressure, and the workload for Project Manager roles can get intense. The current hybrid work model sometimes makes it tough to connect with everyone, and that impacts the vibe.
Advice to Management: Focus on intentional team building and connection, especially with the hybrid work model. It would really help strengthen the company culture for everyone, from creative to project management roles.

Leadership has its moments, good and bad
Pros: Some team leads are really supportive. They let you own your projects as a Digital Producer, which is great for autonomy in digital production. I appreciate that trust.
Cons: Senior leadership can be really disconnected from daily operations. There's often a lack of clear strategy for our digital advertising agency projects. It makes things tough sometimes for remote teams.
Advice to Management: Please try to be more transparent with the team about company direction. A clearer vision from top leadership would help everyone, especially for remote teams trying to align.

Fast-Paced, Can Be Intense for WLB
Pros: The teams are super collaborative, which is great. I loved working on big global ad campaigns, really stimulating stuff for creative roles. Plus, the hybrid model with WFH days helped a bit.
Cons: Work-life balance can be tough, especially as a Senior Project Manager. Expect to put in long hours, sometimes past 6 PM, in the Amsterdam office to hit deadlines in this digital production agency. It's not uncommon to feel the pressure.
Advice to Management: Try to better manage project scope and client expectations so teams aren't always scrambling. Staffing up more for key creative roles could also help alleviate the workload.

Okay flexibility, but room to improve
Pros: The hybrid model is solid. You get 2-3 days WFH, which is great for digital production work. It helps a lot with personal appointments and commuting in the New York City office.
Cons: Sometimes, as an Associate Producer, last-minute requests mess with your WFH days. It's tough to plan when things can change so fast. There's not much flexibility beyond the set hybrid schedule for production roles.
Advice to Management: Try to give more notice for changes to WFH days. It would really help with planning and morale for production teams.

Decent place for exposure, but growth is tough
Pros: As a Digital Producer, I got to work on some really cool global creative projects. You learn a lot about different production workflows. It's solid exposure within a big agency network.
Cons: Honestly, career growth feels pretty limited here. There's not much structure for moving up, especially for digital production roles. They often hire outside for senior positions rather than promoting internally, even in the Amsterdam office.
Advice to Management: Create clearer career paths for internal employees, especially for experienced digital production staff. Invest in more formal mentorship and training programs to encourage internal growth, rather than always looking externally for senior talent.

Leadership's a Mixed Bag, Honestly
Pros: Some immediate managers are great, really supportive. You learn a ton working on big client projects in this global agency network. There's decent opportunity to grow if you actively push for it.
Cons: Upper leadership can feel pretty disconnected from the daily grind. Decisions from the top often seem sudden and lack clear reasoning, which makes it tough for creative services teams to get consistent direction. It impacts morale for junior to mid-level roles.
Advice to Management: Focus on clearer communication from senior leadership down to the teams. Help managers at all levels feel more empowered to lead their teams without constant pivots from above. More transparency would help.

Good projects, but culture needs work
Pros: You get to work on some genuinely cutting-edge campaigns for big brands, which is a huge plus for Digital Producer roles. It's a global digital agency, so you collaborate with really talented people across different teams. The office in Amsterdam is pretty nice too.
Cons: The company culture can feel really cliquey sometimes, especially if you're new or don't fit into existing groups. There's not a lot of direct feedback or mentorship, which makes career growth tough. Work-life balance can definitely suffer during crunch times in this production studio environment.
Advice to Management: Focus on fostering a more inclusive environment. Create clearer paths for career development and implement regular, constructive feedback sessions for everyone. It would really help with employee retention.
