Pros: The stability of working for a global chemicals distribution company is a big plus. You don't often worry about layoffs here. For a Sales Associate in the Houston office, the work-life balance is surprisingly decent. I usually stick to regular 40-hour weeks. Compensation is competitive and benefits are pretty good.
Cons: The company culture can feel really traditional, almost stagnant. Innovation isn't always encouraged, especially in older departments. Sometimes it feels like there's a lack of clear communication from upper management. Decisions take a long time to trickle down. There isn't much room for work flexibility, mostly an onsite expectation for my role.
Advice to Management: Try to encourage more modern approaches and listen to feedback from younger employees. Improve communication channels and speed up decision-making processes.

Pros: The pay and benefits are quite good for sales roles in the chemical distribution industry. It's a stable company, so job security feels pretty strong. There's decent training when you start.
Cons: Career growth is really tough here as an Account Manager. There just aren't clear promotion paths, and internal advancement feels slow, especially in the Reading, PA office. You can get stuck in your role for a long time.
Advice to Management: Create more transparent career development plans for employees. Show us how to actually move up instead of just staying in one spot for years. Invest more in internal promotions.

Pros: As an Account Manager, I appreciate the hybrid work option at Brenntag. It's nice not being in the Houston, TX office five days a week. This allows for some personal appointments and helps with my commute.
Cons: However, true work flexibility is still a work in progress. For us in sales and chemical distribution, there's pressure to be onsite more often than the policy states. You can't just work remotely whenever you want; it feels more like a fixed hybrid than true flexibility.
Advice to Management: Leadership should reinforce the official hybrid policy and ensure managers don't push for unnecessary onsite presence, especially for roles that don't always require it.
