Pros: The pay and benefits are good, especially for big tech. There's a lot of interesting firmware development happening, and the teams are generally smart. I appreciate the hybrid work model, it's a nice balance for me.
Cons: Work-life balance can be tough, especially if you're on a critical project deadline. I often had to put in 50+ hour weeks. It's not always easy to log off at 5 PM when you're in the middle of debugging a complex embedded system.
Advice to Management: Try to better manage project scopes and resources to prevent burnout, especially for embedded systems roles. A clearer 'no overtime' policy unless truly critical would help morale across the board.

Pros: I've had pretty good work-life balance most weeks as an Embedded Software Engineer. The hybrid work model helps a lot, letting me avoid the commute some days. You can usually manage your own schedule within reason.
Cons: It's not always 40-hour weeks in the semiconductor industry. Sometimes project timelines mean a lot of crunch time, especially when you're dealing with new silicon bring-up. Upper management can set aggressive deadlines which impacts personal time.
Advice to Management: Managers should push back more on unrealistic project timelines from higher-ups. It helps prevent burnout and keeps employee morale up.

Pros: It's generally okay, especially with the hybrid work model. You can usually get your 40 hours done without too much weekend work. The Austin, Texas office is pretty chill and supportive.
Cons: Some projects in the semiconductor industry can be really demanding. As a Product Engineer, you might face tight deadlines and sudden crunch times, which messes things up. WFH days can still mean long hours if a critical chip design release is due.
Advice to Management: Try to better forecast project demands to avoid those last-minute crunch times for teams. It really impacts morale when work-life balance gets thrown out the window.
