Project Engineer

Decent place for engineering, culture needs work.
Pros: I've gained solid experience as a Project Engineer here. The projects in the engineering consulting space are usually pretty interesting, so you learn a lot. Job security feels decent for a big corporate firm.
Cons: The company culture is pretty rigid, and it's tough to get new ideas heard. There's not much work flexibility, and the leadership can feel out of touch. As a Project Engineer, work-life balance gets tough with tight deadlines.
Advice to Management: Try to modernize the company culture a bit. Encourage more open communication and really listen to younger employees' perspectives. Empower teams more and offer better work flexibility options.

Solid job security for engineering roles
Pros: Job security is pretty solid here. As a Project Engineer in the Houston, TX office, I always had a project to work on. It's a large consulting firm, so the pipeline for technical services is consistent.
Cons: Career growth can feel slow sometimes. It's not a place for quick promotions or rapid skill development. Work flexibility isn't really a thing for most onsite engineering roles.
Advice to Management: Focus on creating clearer paths for internal career progression. Employees want to see more than just lateral moves.

Junior Civil Engineer

Pay is alright, benefits could improve.
Pros: As a Junior Civil Engineer, the starting salary was actually decent for London. I felt like the base pay was competitive, especially for a large engineering firm like RINA. It's a solid start for an entry-level role.
Cons: The benefits package really isn't great, though. Health insurance options felt a bit basic, and the paid time off was pretty standard, nothing extra. For an international company, I expected more perks.
Advice to Management: Focus on enhancing the benefits package. Better health insurance and more generous PTO would really help with employee retention, especially for the younger staff working on those demanding infrastructure projects.

Pay is okay, but benefits need work.
Pros: The base salary for a Junior Engineer felt pretty standard for entry-level technical consulting roles in Houston. They do offer a 401k match, which is a solid perk; it's not huge, but it's there.
Cons: The health insurance premiums are surprisingly high, cutting into take-home pay quite a bit. Annual raises felt pretty small, barely keeping up with inflation; it's tough to really advance financially at this big corporate firm. The bonus structure wasn't very transparent or substantial.
Advice to Management: Consider reviewing the health insurance costs and increasing annual salary adjustments to better retain talent, especially in competitive markets like technical consulting. Make the bonus program more clear for all employees.

Decent for engineering, but flexibility needs work
Pros: I liked working on diverse engineering consulting projects. There's a solid hybrid model, which helps avoid daily commutes to the Houston office. As a Junior Electrical Engineer, I gained good technical experience.
Cons: Work flexibility really depends on your project manager. Some expect you in the office 3 days a week, no questions asked. For large-scale projects, there's often pressure for more onsite requirements than initially stated, making true WFH tough.
Advice to Management: Try to standardize the hybrid model across all teams and project leads. More autonomy on WFH days for those not directly involved in onsite testing or client meetings would be great. Understand that a big corporate firm needs to adapt to modern work styles.

RINA Pay's Fine, Benefits Could Improve
Pros: The starting salary for a Junior Electrical Engineer in the Houston office was pretty decent. It's a solid entry point for a new grad in the engineering consultant industry. You'll get by okay, no complaints there.
Cons: Raises don't come very fast after that first year or two. The annual bonus is usually pretty small, sometimes non-existent. Health benefits are just average; they don't really stand out compared to competitors.
Advice to Management: Management should really look into making the bonus structure clearer and more substantial. Boosting the overall benefits package would also help with employee retention.

Pay is Okay, Benefits Are Standard
Pros: The base salary for a Junior Project Engineer felt fair starting out. They have a decent health plan and a 401k match, which is good. It's comparable to other firms in the engineering consulting space.
Cons: Raises are usually pretty small, often just cost-of-living adjustments. Performance bonuses aren't common for my level. There's not much room for significant salary growth unless you move into management.
Advice to Management: Consider reviewing salary bands, especially for experienced technical roles. It's tough to retain good talent when compensation isn't growing much year-over-year.

Leadership is Okay, Needs More Clear Vision
Pros: You get to work on some really interesting energy sector projects, which is cool. There's good autonomy for Project Managers here in the Houston office. It's a big corporate structure so there's some stability.
Cons: Leadership can be pretty disconnected from day-to-day. Strategic direction isn't always clear, especially with new initiatives. It sometimes feels like decisions are made without talking to the people actually doing the work.
Advice to Management: Try to involve Project Managers more in strategic planning. Better communication from senior leadership on company direction would really help us all. Don't forget the people on the ground.

Culture's Okay, But There's Room to Grow
Pros: I got to work on some really interesting engineering projects, which was great for a Junior Engineer. My team in the Houston office was awesome and always ready to help out. Solid learning experience overall.
Cons: The overall corporate culture feels a bit rigid, honestly. New ideas don't always get traction, and it's hard to feel like your voice truly matters. It's just a bit slow to adapt.
Advice to Management: Try to be more open to new approaches and listen to what the newer generations are saying. Encourage more bottom-up feedback and really act on it. Modernize how you engage with employees.

Decent Flexibility, But Depends on Your Team
Pros: They've got a pretty solid hybrid work model at RINA. As a Project Engineer in the London office, I could often work from home a couple of days a week. It helps a lot with managing the daily commute and personal appointments.
Cons: Sometimes getting remote approval for urgent tasks felt tough though. Not all managers are fully on board with the work flexibility for engineering roles, making it inconsistent. There's still a bit of a 'face time' culture in certain departments.
Advice to Management: RINA management should ensure a more consistent application of the hybrid work policy across all teams. Provide better guidelines and training for managers on supporting flexible work arrangements for all employees, especially in project-based roles.
