Okay for a start, but growth is slow
Pros: You get solid exposure to global supply chain operations, which is good for your resume in the food industry. There's a lot of knowledge sharing from long-time employees, which helps new folks learn the ropes. The hybrid work model in Milwaukee is pretty flexible too.
Cons: Career growth for supply chain professionals can feel really slow. There aren't many clear paths to move up, and internal promotions are tough to land. I felt like I hit a ceiling after about two years without a path for further development.
Advice to Management: Invest more in clear career development programs for employees, especially in technical roles. It would help retain talent if there were more defined promotion criteria and training opportunities beyond just internal knowledge transfer.

Leadership Can Be Hit or Miss at BC
Pros: Some of the managers, especially in the Chicago office, are genuinely supportive. They'll actually listen to your ideas as a Supply Chain Analyst, which is nice for a big global company in the food industry.
Cons: But upper management leadership can be pretty disconnected from day-to-day operations. Decisions often feel top-down, and it's tough to get project approvals for improvements in the cocoa supply chain.
Advice to Management: Management should really empower mid-level leaders more and listen to people on the ground. Improve two-way communication, especially for those in manufacturing and supply chain roles.

Leadership Challenges for Chocolate Manufacturing
Pros: The benefits package is solid for a corporate food manufacturing company. You really get to learn the ins and outs of cocoa processing and chocolate production, which is pretty cool. Some of my direct teammates in the Chicago, IL plant were fantastic.
Cons: Leadership here is pretty inconsistent, especially for manufacturing roles. It feels like upper management lacks a clear vision sometimes. As a Production Supervisor, I often felt unsupported when dealing with factory floor issues. There's not much room for internal career growth either.
Advice to Management: Focus on consistent leadership training across all levels. Listen more to the production teams on the factory floor, especially regarding efficiency and morale within chocolate manufacturing. Clearer communication from the top would help a lot.
