Leadership is Okay, But Could Be Better
Pros: As a Chemical Engineer in the Mobile, AL plant, I've had some really good direct supervisors. They're usually pretty knowledgeable about the specialty chemicals industry and will help you out if you get stuck. The team spirit among peers is also solid.
Cons: Upper management can feel pretty disconnected from the day-to-day operations. It's tough to get quick decisions from them, and there's not always a clear long-term vision for some departments. This affects career growth opportunities sometimes.
Advice to Management: Try to engage more with the frontline employees and be clearer about the company's future direction. Faster decision-making from senior leadership would also help a lot with project momentum.

Okay Work-Life, Could Be Better for Engineers
Pros: The job security at Evonik Oxeno is pretty decent, especially in the chemical manufacturing industry. When things are calm, the standard 40-hour weeks are a real plus. It's good to have that stability, even with the required onsite work.
Cons: The biggest issue for Process Engineer roles is the unpredictability. You can get pulled into urgent plant operations issues at any time, which messes with personal plans. There's not a lot of work flexibility, so balancing family life is tough when things get busy.
Advice to Management: Try to implement more predictable on-call schedules or better resource allocation for urgent plant operations to improve work-life balance for engineers. A bit more work flexibility, even just occasionally, would make a big difference.
