Okay Work-Life, Depends on Your Team and Role

Working at DHL Express was a mixed bag, honestly. Some days were chill, others were really intense. It's a big company, so things move fast in the shipping world.

Pros

I liked the team I worked with; we had a good camaraderie. The benefits were pretty solid for a large corporate company. You get decent exposure to the global supply chain, which is cool for career development in logistics.

Cons

Work-life balance can be tough, especially as a Logistics Coordinator. There's often pressure to work longer hours, especially around peak season for express delivery. It's mostly an onsite role at the Cincinnati hub, so not much remote flexibility.

Advice to Management

Management should really look into better staffing to ease the workload on logistics teams. More hybrid work options would also boost morale.

Flexibility is Tricky for Operations Roles Here
Pros: I've worked as an Operations Agent at the Cincinnati hub for a few years. There's some decent flexibility for shift swaps if you plan ahead. You can sometimes adjust your schedule, which is good in this big corporate company.
Cons: But true work flexibility is tough, especially in shipping and logistics. Don't expect remote work for core operations roles; it's mostly onsite work. Changing shifts last minute is almost impossible unless someone covers.
Advice to Management: Try to find ways to offer more internal shift flexibility or a more streamlined process for schedule changes, especially for long-term employees. It would greatly boost morale in our Ohio facility.

DHL Express: Solid Pay, Slower Career Path
Pros: As an Operations Supervisor, I've seen some decent internal transfer options. If you're just looking to move around within the logistics industry, it's possible. They do have some leadership training available for onsite teams in the Cincinnati office.
Cons: Career growth here feels pretty slow for many roles. Getting a real promotion often takes years, and you're competing with a lot of people. It's tough to move up without relocating, which isn't always feasible.
Advice to Management: Management should work on making career paths clearer and speeding up the promotion process. It gets frustrating for dedicated employees when upward mobility is so slow.

Decent place for career, but balance can be tough.
Pros: You learn a lot about international shipping and the supply chain. The team in the Atlanta office is usually pretty solid. Good for building experience in parcel delivery.
Cons: Work-life balance as a Logistics Coordinator can be really hit or miss. Overtime is common, especially during peak season, and it's mostly onsite work. Don't expect consistent 40-hour weeks.
Advice to Management: Try to staff up more during busy periods to ease the burden on existing teams. Better scheduling could really help improve work-life balance for onsite roles.
