Career growth is slow for technical roles
Pros: It's a big company in the silicon carbide space, so there's exposure to cutting-edge technology. You can learn a lot if you're proactive in the semiconductor manufacturing environment.
Cons: For Process Engineer roles, actual career progression feels pretty slow here in Durham, NC. It's hard to move up without a manager leaving, and formal development programs aren't strong for a large corporate company.
Advice to Management: Invest more in clear career paths and leadership development for technical staff, especially for Process Engineer roles. Make internal mobility easier across different semiconductor manufacturing departments.

Culture needs work, good for chip experience
Pros: The exposure to advanced silicon carbide and semiconductor technology is huge. You learn so much here as a Process Engineer. Plus, the overall benefits package is quite good for a large corporate company.
Cons: The company culture often feels very old-fashioned and bureaucratic in the Durham, NC office. It's tough to get new ideas heard, and there's not much flexibility for onsite work, which can be draining.
Advice to Management: Listen more to the engineering teams on the ground. Encourage a more collaborative environment and don't be afraid to try new approaches to problems. Modernize the management style.

Pay's okay, benefits could be better
Pros: The base salary for a Process Engineer is pretty decent for the semiconductor industry. You get standard healthcare, which is fine. The 401k match kicks in pretty quick, which is a solid perk in the Durham, NC office.
Cons: Stock options are not great, especially for junior to mid-level technical roles. Annual raises don't really keep up with inflation or market rates. The benefits package overall feels a bit thin compared to other big corporate companies.
Advice to Management: Rethink the total compensation package, especially for experienced engineers. Improve stock options and make annual raises more competitive to retain talent.

Pay is Okay, Benefits Need Work
Pros: The base salary for a Process Engineer fresh out of school was pretty decent, especially for the Durham, NC office. You get a solid 401k match which is a plus, and it vests quickly.
Cons: But the healthcare premiums were really high; it ate into my paycheck a lot. There's not much salary growth for semiconductor manufacturing roles once you're in, and bonuses aren't great for onsite engineers.
Advice to Management: Look into making healthcare more affordable for employees. Also, create clearer paths for salary progression for technical roles; it's hard to stay motivated when raises are minimal.
