Leadership's Fine, But Communication Needs Work
Pros: Some team leads here are really good. They understand the nuances of the maritime industry. It's a stable global shipping company, which is a big plus.
Cons: Upper leadership communication isn't always great. As a Technical Officer, sometimes clear direction for vessel operations is missing. It makes planning tough for the Singapore office team.
Advice to Management: Focus on clearer, more consistent communication from the top down. Especially for teams like Technical Officers dealing with vessel operations daily.

Solid job security, but slow on growth
Pros: It's a big, established corporate company in the shipping industry, so job security for Marine Superintendent roles feels pretty solid. They've been around forever, and global maritime operations keep them busy. I always felt secure in my position.
Cons: However, career growth can be slow; there aren't many upward moves for onshore staff. Promotions don't come often, and sometimes it feels a bit stagnant. It's hard to move up the ladder.
Advice to Management: Consider more clear pathways for career progression, especially for long-term employees in key operational roles like Marine Superintendent. It helps with retention.

Culture is okay, but it's a big shipping firm
Pros: You get to work with a lot of international colleagues, which is cool for a Marine Superintendent. There's a solid global network, so you learn a lot about the shipping industry worldwide. It's a pretty stable place to be.
Cons: The corporate structure means things move slowly sometimes, especially in the Singapore office. It's not a startup, so don't expect rapid changes or super innovative work. Bureaucracy can be a bit much for daily shipping operations.
Advice to Management: Try to streamline some internal processes. Empower teams to make decisions faster; it'd really help with efficiency across the shipping operations.
