Work-life balance is a mixed bag at UOB
Pros: I liked that some teams in the corporate bank truly stick to a 40-hour work week. There are also decent hybrid work options available which helps a lot. It's good for overall flexibility.
Cons: As a Relationship Manager, I often worked long hours to meet client demands. The pressure in certain banking roles is intense, especially during quarter-ends. It's tough to really find a true work-life balance and switch off.
Advice to Management: Management should consider better client portfolio distribution to ease the burden on individual Relationship Managers. Setting clearer boundaries for after-hours communication would also help improve the work-life balance.

UOB is stable, but flexibility needs work
Pros: The company offers good job security, which is a big plus in the banking industry. You get decent benefits and the office environment in Singapore is generally fine. It's a reliable place to work as a Relationship Manager.
Cons: Work from home options are super limited, even for a hybrid model. Most days you have to be in the office, which makes personal appointments tough. It really impacts work-life balance when you're always onsite.
Advice to Management: Consider offering more flexible work arrangements, like a true hybrid schedule. Trust your employees to manage their tasks remotely when possible. This would boost morale and make UOB more competitive.

UOB Culture is Okay, Room to Grow
Pros: The teams in the Singapore office are generally supportive. I've found good mentors, especially for banking roles. There's a decent sense of community within smaller groups and it's a stable place to be in financial services.
Cons: The corporate bank culture can be quite hierarchical. New ideas don't always get picked up quickly. It's tough to make changes from the bottom up and sometimes it feels very traditional. Work-life balance can suffer due to long hours, too.
Advice to Management: Try to empower middle management more. Encourage more open feedback channels from employees. Embrace innovation faster and really listen to ground-level staff.
