Pharmaceutical Sales Representative

Decent Flexibility for Field-Based Sales
Pros: As a Pharmaceutical Sales Representative, you get a good amount of autonomy. I could plan my own routes for client visits which was nice. Remote work is definitely an option if you're not in the field, so that's a plus for work-life balance.
Cons: The hybrid model for corporate roles doesn't really apply to sales, which is tough. You're expected to be out seeing doctors a lot, so true work flexibility can be limited. There's not much room for true WFH for field-based teams.
Advice to Management: Consider more flexible options for field sales reps when not actively meeting clients, even if it's just for admin days. It would boost morale for those working in the pharmaceutical industry.

Research Scientist

Decent Balance for Big Pharma, but it varies
Pros: I found the hybrid work model to be a huge plus, giving some flexibility. Most days, as a Research Scientist, I could wrap things up by 5 or 6 PM, which is pretty good for the pharmaceutical industry. Teams were generally supportive of personal time.
Cons: There were definitely periods of intense project deadlines where working late was unavoidable. Sometimes, global calls meant early mornings or late nights. It felt like an 'always on' culture during critical drug development phases.
Advice to Management: Management needs to really encourage taking time off, especially during crunch times. It's tough to truly disconnect when project demands are relentless.

Clinical Research Associate

Solid Pay & Benefits for Big Pharma
Pros: The compensation package is definitely a pro for Pfizer. As a Clinical Research Associate, my base salary was competitive for the pharmaceutical industry. The healthcare benefits are comprehensive, and the 401k match is pretty generous, which is great for long-term planning.
Cons: While the pay is good, annual raises aren't always as significant as you'd hope in such a big corporate setting. Some of the benefits feel a bit standard, not really innovative. I've heard similar feedback from others in remote roles too.
Advice to Management: Keep investing in competitive compensation and explore more innovative, flexible benefits. This is crucial for retaining top talent across the pharmaceutical industry.
