Company Summary

Company Reviews

Ørsted is the global leader in offshore wind power and is one of the largest renewable energy companies in the world.

Within a decade, we transformed from being one of Europe’s most fossil fuel-intensive utilities to being ranked as one of the most sustainable energy companies in the world. Today, we’re guided by a clear vision: to create a world that runs entirely on green energy.

We provide countries, companies, and communities with sustainable, reliable, and cost-competitive energy solutions, including offshore and onshore wind, solar, renewable hydrogen, and energy storage. We built the world’s first offshore wind farm back in 1991, and with over 2,000 turbines at sea, we’ve installed more offshore wind capacity than anyone else. In total, we own or operate over 17 GW of renewable energy capacity across North America, Europe, and Asia-Pacific.

We know that to build renewable energy at pace and scale, we must build it right. We commit to developing and operating our assets in harmony with nature and in line with the need for science-based climate action. We prioritise integrity and safety in our operations, and we respect the human rights and diverse values of every employee and stakeholder.

As a global renewable energy leader, we leverage the curiosity and passion of our people to innovate and take new or existing technologies to scale, collaborating with governments, suppliers, and our industry partners to make green energy solutions a reality.

Project Coordinator, Offshore Wind

Solid company, slow career path sometimes
Pros: You get decent benefits and it's a very stable job in the green energy sector. There's some internal learning material available. The hybrid work model is also a plus.
Cons: Career growth for individual contributor roles, like a Project Coordinator, can feel really stagnant. There aren't many opportunities to move up quickly. You really have to fight for new responsibilities.
Advice to Management: Create clearer pathways for internal promotions and development, especially for non-managerial staff. Make sure growth isn't just for senior roles.

Solid Security in Green Energy
Pros: It's a huge player in the renewable energy sector. That alone gives a good sense of job security. As a Project Engineer, I saw consistent work, especially with offshore wind development ramping up in the US. Being a global company helps a lot.
Cons: Security can feel tied to project cycles. If a big project stalls, you might wonder what's next. Some reorganizations in the Boston, MA office made people a bit nervous. It's not always clear how internal mobility works if your project ends.
Advice to Management: Try to be more transparent about long-term project pipelines and internal opportunities for employees whose projects are ending. This would ease concerns about project-dependent job security.

Leadership is a mixed bag at Ørsted
Pros: I've had some really good senior managers here in the Boston office. They let me own my work as a Project Engineer on offshore wind projects. It's cool to get that trust and freedom.
Cons: The leadership higher up isn't always great though. Decisions take forever and often feel out of touch. It's like they don't really get what's happening at the project level, which can be frustrating.
Advice to Management: Focus on better communication from the top and empower mid-level managers more. Listen to the project teams and understand their needs, especially for those in technical roles.
