Mechanical Engineer

Hybrid work is okay, but needs consistency
Pros: As a Mechanical Engineer, I've had some decent WFH days here. The hybrid model in the Houston, TX office is good for avoiding rush hour a few times a week. It helps a bit with work-life balance for engineering roles.
Cons: True work flexibility here is often up to your manager, not a clear company-wide policy. It creates inconsistencies across teams, especially in the oil and gas industry where some roles are always onsite. Getting approval for extra remote days can be tough.
Advice to Management: Standardize the hybrid and remote work policies across departments. It would create a fairer environment for everyone and improve overall employee morale.

Hybrid Model is Okay, Could Be Better
Pros: I've liked the option for hybrid work as a Mechanical Design Engineer. Getting to split time between home and the Houston, TX office is decent. It helps with personal appointments and avoiding rush hour every day.
Cons: Still, the flexibility isn't great. We're expected in the office three fixed days, so it's not truly flexible. For the oil and gas industry, it feels a bit old school and doesn't fully embrace modern work trends.
Advice to Management: Give more genuine flexibility for hybrid schedules. Let teams decide their in-office days instead of a blanket rule. It'd boost morale for technical roles like engineering.

Supply Chain Analyst

Onsite is the name of the game
Pros: The hybrid option for many office roles is decent, allowing two remote days. It helps to dodge the crazy Houston traffic. For a large corporate company, that's something.
Cons: True flexibility is super limited for a Supply Chain Analyst; it's mostly onsite work. They really push being in the Houston office most days, even for a global industrial company. You can't just shift your hours easily, which is a major drawback.
Advice to Management: Management should seriously look into offering more flexible work arrangements beyond just two WFH days. Empower teams to decide what works best for productivity.
