Solid place, but not for flexibility

Plexus is a pretty stable company in the electronics manufacturing industry. You'll get decent benefits and a clear path, but don't expect much work flexibility, especially for hands-on roles like mine. It's mostly an onsite culture.

Pros

The work is steady and the job security for a Manufacturing Engineer in the EMS industry feels pretty solid. You usually know your schedule well in advance. Benefits are okay, nothing amazing but decent for a corporate manufacturing company.

Cons

Work flexibility isn't really a thing here. As a Manufacturing Engineer, I'm expected to be on-site at the Neenah, WI campus for my full 40-hour week. There's almost no option for remote work or even hybrid scheduling, which can be tough. It's strictly traditional.

Advice to Management

Consider offering some hybrid options for roles where it makes sense, even if it's just a day or two a week. More modern work arrangements would help with retention.

Career Growth is a Bit Stagnant
Pros: You get solid experience working with diverse products in the electronics manufacturing services (EMS) industry. There's good exposure to the production floor and different engineering challenges. It's a decent place to learn the ropes as a new Manufacturing Engineer.
Cons: Career growth often feels very structured and slow for engineering roles. Promotions don't come easily; it's more about waiting for someone to retire. Moving into leadership requires a really long tenure at Plexus Corp. in this corporate environment.
Advice to Management: Management should create clearer development paths for engineers, especially in the Neenah, Wisconsin office. Encourage internal mobility and faster advancement for high performers instead of just waiting games.

Okay stability, but not much movement in manufacturing
Pros: As a Manufacturing Engineer here, I've felt pretty secure. The company does well in the electronics manufacturing industry, so there's steady work. They don't have massive layoffs often, which is good.
Cons: Job security is decent, but growth paths aren't always clear. Sometimes project shifts mean teams get reshuffled, which can feel a bit uncertain. It's not a fast-paced environment for promotions.
Advice to Management: Managers should be more transparent about career paths and how project changes affect job roles long-term. Help us see where we can grow within the electronics manufacturing sector here.

Growth is tough, but it's stable
Pros: You learn a ton about *electronics assembly* processes, which is a solid foundation. The work environment in the *Neenah, WI* office is usually pretty calm, no crazy crunch times. It's a stable place, good if you value job security.
Cons: Career growth for *manufacturing engineering* roles is just really slow. It feels like there aren't many clear paths to move up in this *corporate* structure. Promotions don't happen often, which is a bummer.
Advice to Management: Invest more in clear career paths and internal mobility programs, especially for long-term engineering talent. Show people there's a future here beyond just lateral moves.
