Hybrid Model is Okay, Could Be Better
Pros: The hybrid model for us Software Engineers is good; we get a few days working from home. It's really nice to avoid the insane Bangkok traffic a couple of times a week. The company does provide some flexibility in choosing your WFH days within the team.
Cons: True work flexibility isn't really a thing here. You're expected in the office for specific days, making it feel more like an onsite culture for many tech roles. There isn't much room for extended remote work, like going home to visit family for a month, which is common in other big tech companies.
Advice to Management: Consider offering more options for long-term remote work or truly flexible schedules, especially for senior tech roles. A more adaptable WFH policy would boost morale.

Hybrid model is okay, but could be better
Pros: The hybrid work model does offer some relief. You don't have to be in the Bangkok office every single day, which is nice for avoiding daily traffic. It's a solid option for those who like a mix of WFH and in-person collaboration.
Cons: The "flexibility" often feels limited. It's usually a set 3 days in office, 2 WFH for most teams, which isn't true work-from-anywhere flexibility in an e-commerce tech environment. Some days you really need to focus, and the open-plan office isn't great for that.
Advice to Management: Consider truly flexible WFH options. Trust employees to manage their time and output. The current fixed hybrid model doesn't suit everyone, especially in a big tech company environment.

Work flexibility is just okay, honestly
Pros: You can usually work from home a couple of days a week here in the Bangkok office, which is decent for a big tech company. For some Data Analyst roles, there's a bit of leeway with start times, which helps with the city's crazy traffic. It's not the worst work arrangement I've seen in the online travel agency space.
Cons: But it's not truly flexible; most teams still expect you onsite a lot. The hybrid model feels more mandatory than flexible, especially for junior employees. It's tough if you're looking for full remote options in this corporate environment.
Advice to Management: Re-evaluate the hybrid work policy to genuinely empower employees with more control over their schedules. A truly flexible approach would boost morale and retention.

Agoda's Hybrid Model is Okay, Not Great
Pros: It's nice that we don't have to be in the Bangkok office all five days. The hybrid model allows a bit of breathing room for personal stuff, which is a plus for a Senior Software Engineer in a demanding environment. It's definitely better than being fully onsite, which some travel tech companies still do.
Cons: The mandatory three days onsite feel pretty strict though. It makes true work-from-home flexibility tough to achieve, even for experienced tech roles. Sometimes you're just sitting in the office on video calls anyway, which feels a bit pointless.
Advice to Management: Consider a more flexible hybrid policy, especially for senior roles. Trusting employees with their work arrangement could really improve morale and productivity. It would make Agoda more competitive for top tech talent.

Okay flexibility, but room to grow
Pros: Agoda offers some hybrid work options which is nice. As a Software Engineer in the Bangkok office, I did get some wiggle room with my start and end times most days. It's a decent perk in the travel tech industry.
Cons: The official WFH policy could be clearer and more generous. It's not truly flexible for all teams; some managers really push for onsite attendance. For a big tech company, I expected better work arrangement options.
Advice to Management: Really look at the WFH policy and trust your employees more. Modern work flexibility isn't just about hybrid; it's about real autonomy for roles like Software Engineer.

Solid tech company, but WFH is tough
Pros: I've learned a ton as a Software Engineer here. The projects are interesting, especially working on e-commerce features. You get to collaborate with smart people in the Bangkok office.
Cons: The work flexibility here is pretty limited for Software Engineers. It's a strict hybrid model, meaning you're in the Bangkok office almost daily. This makes managing personal life or remote work very tough.
Advice to Management: Management should really reconsider the hybrid policy for big tech roles. More flexible WFH options would improve morale and retention.

Hybrid model has its good and bad
Pros: The teams are generally smart. You learn a lot if you're new to the travel tech industry. There are decent opportunities for growth if you push for them.
Cons: Work flexibility can be tough. The hybrid model means you're expected in the Bangkok office most days, not truly remote. It's hard to get a WFH day approved, even as a Software Engineer. The onsite requirements feel a bit rigid.
Advice to Management: Consider offering more true work flexibility, especially for experienced tech roles. Trust your employees more with WFH options beyond the mandatory hybrid.
