Sales Representative

Leadership has some strong points, but also struggles
Pros: My direct manager for the beauty industry products is really supportive. They provide solid guidance, which helps a lot for a Sales Representative navigating quarterly targets. There's also decent training available if you look for it.
Cons: Upper management often feels out of touch with the New York office's day-to-day. Communication on company strategy and product launches can be really inconsistent. It makes it tough to feel aligned when the top leadership sends mixed signals.
Advice to Management: Try to connect more with the teams on the ground, especially in sales. Clearer communication on strategy from the top down would make a huge difference. Focus on getting consistent messaging out.

Job security at Shiseido is a real concern.
Pros: Working for a luxury beauty brand like Shiseido looks good on a resume. The employee discounts on cosmetics are a nice perk, too. You get exposure to a big corporate environment.
Cons: Job security isn't great, especially for roles like a Marketing Coordinator. There's constant restructuring and it feels like layoffs could happen anytime. It's tough to plan your career when things are so uncertain in the NYC office.
Advice to Management: Management needs to be more transparent about company direction and stabilize the workforce. The constant reorganizations really hurt morale and make employees feel expendable.

Long Hours for Marketing, But Good Benefits
Pros: The benefits package is pretty solid for the beauty industry, which is a big plus. As a marketing specialist, I've learned a ton about global brand strategy. You're working with some really smart people, and there's a good sense of camaraderie among the teams.
Cons: Work-life balance here is a real struggle, especially in the New York City office. Expect late nights and some weekend work, particularly before big product launches. It's hard to truly disconnect when deadlines are constantly looming.
Advice to Management: Please try to better manage project timelines and resource allocation, especially for marketing teams. We need more realistic deadlines to improve work-life balance and prevent burnout among employees.

Growth is slow but steady here
Pros: As a Marketing Coordinator, I've learned a ton about the beauty industry and global product launches. It's a solid place if you're just starting out in a big corporate beauty company, and the job security feels good.
Cons: Career growth is really tough past entry-level. There aren't many clear paths to move up in the New York City office, especially for marketing roles, so you can feel stuck. Internal promotion seems rare.
Advice to Management: Management should create more defined career paths and opportunities for internal advancement, especially for those in marketing coordinator roles. It would help retain talent and show employees there's a future here.

Okay stability, but watch out for shifts
Pros: The global presence of Shiseido generally means some job security compared to smaller startups in the cosmetics industry. Benefits are decent, and you learn a lot working on major skincare campaigns. They mostly follow a hybrid model now, which is nice.
Cons: Job security here can feel a bit shaky sometimes, especially for junior roles like Marketing Coordinator. I've seen teams reshuffle quite a bit, and there's always talk of reorgs in the New York City office. It makes long-term planning pretty tough.
Advice to Management: Try to be more transparent about upcoming changes and provide better communication paths for employees when departments are restructured. It would help a lot with retention.

Decent Pay, Benefits Need a Boost
Pros: As a Marketing Coordinator in the New York City office, the base salary was pretty competitive for entry-level roles in the beauty industry. You also get good product discounts, which is a nice perk if you love cosmetics. It helps offset some costs.
Cons: The health insurance options aren't great, honestly. High deductibles make it tough. There's not much room for significant bonus increases, especially in a corporate environment once you're past entry-level. It's tough to feel truly rewarded financially.
Advice to Management: Really look at the health benefit packages; they're not competitive enough for a company of this size. Also, consider clearer paths for salary progression beyond standard annual raises, especially for dedicated marketing professionals.

Leadership is okay, but could be better
Pros: Some managers really care about their teams. They'll actually mentor you, which is great for new Marketing Coordinator roles. The team culture for junior positions in the NYC office is pretty solid, especially with our hybrid work setup.
Cons: Upper management feels pretty disconnected from daily operations. Decisions come from way up, not really considering our team's input in the cosmetics industry. There's not much transparency on bigger company goals, making it hard to see where things are headed.
Advice to Management: Try to involve middle management more in big decisions. Boost transparency on company strategy so everyone understands the direction. Make sure leadership is visible and approachable, especially in our hybrid work setup.
