Hotel Operations Coordinator

Okay flexibility for hotel roles, but it varies.
Pros: Some managers are actually pretty good about adjusting schedules when they can. As a Hotel Operations Coordinator, I sometimes got to swap shifts with colleagues, which is rare in hotel management. It's a decent perk when it happens.
Cons: Work from home isn't an option for most front-line roles here, so you're pretty much always onsite. It's tough to get last-minute time off, even for emergencies. Can feel rigid for the hospitality industry.
Advice to Management: Try to be more consistent with work flexibility policies across different departments and hotel properties. It really helps with employee morale in this demanding industry. Especially for those in roles like Hotel Operations Coordinator.

Okay Place for Hospitality, Culture Varies
Pros: The team in my Miami, FL office was pretty tight-knit. We'd often do lunch together and they really push for good customer service training. It's a solid place to learn hotel operations if you're new to the tourism industry.
Cons: Company culture here can be a bit inconsistent across different properties. There's not much flexibility for Guest Services Coordinator roles; you're pretty much always onsite. Sometimes the corporate office felt a bit disconnected from daily hotel life.
Advice to Management: Try to standardize culture and communication better across all your properties. Make sure corporate stays in touch with daily hotel operations.

Front Desk Manager

Work-life balance is tough in hotel ops
Pros: When it's not peak season, the hours are pretty decent. As a Front Desk Manager, you get some predictable shifts, which helps. The team is usually good about covering for onsite staff if you need a specific day off.
Cons: During busy times, forget about it. It's common to work 50+ hours, sometimes 6 days a week, especially in hotel operations. There's not much flexibility, so personal life often takes a back seat.
Advice to Management: Please look into better staffing models during peak season to prevent burnout. More flexibility, even just a little, would help retention for your onsite team.
