The Forest label is owned by Target Fashion Sdn. Bhd. which was incorporated in February 1980. The company immediately commenced operations as garment manufacturer in its rented shophouse in Taman Maluri, Kuala Lumpur. The company initially manufactured men’s clothing and produced the goods as and when the orders were received from its customers.
After the recession in 1985, the company decided to manufacture and trade in unisex sports and casual wear. It also expanded its target market to include all ages and launched its own house brand Forest. Following the success of the launch, Forest products were then distributed to various departmental stores and shopping complexes.
The company’s business grew mainly through consignment sales and outright sales to major customers.
In 1997, to accommodate the company’s steady expansion, Target Fashion shifted it s operation to its own office cum warehouse in Desa Tun Razak Industrial Park, Kuala Lumpur. It is from this location that all Forest products are manufactured and distributed to its network of departmental stores and shopping complexes.

Pros: It's a big corporate retail environment, so there's a clear structure for operations and daily tasks. As an onsite Retail Sales Associate in the Kuala Lumpur office, I always had a fixed schedule, which was pretty decent for planning my personal life.
Cons: Job security is tough, especially with seasonal shifts and inventory management changes in fashion retail. You don't always feel secure with your hours or even your position; there's often talk about cutting back.
Advice to Management: Try to communicate more transparently about the long-term outlook for employees, especially for core roles in fashion retail. Better job security would really help with morale and reduce turnover.
