Decent Culture in a Fast-Paced Big Tech Environment
Pros: The people are generally really supportive, especially when you're starting out as a Software Engineer. There's a decent sense of camaraderie in the Jakarta office. It's a big tech company, so you learn a lot quickly.
Cons: The company culture can feel a bit unstable due to constant reorganizations, which makes job security feel low. It's tough to build long-term connections when teams keep shifting. Work-life balance as a Software Engineer isn't always there.
Advice to Management: Try to provide more clarity on strategic direction and reduce the frequency of team reorganizations. This would help foster a more stable company culture and improve morale.

Okay for Growth, But You Need to Push
Pros: You'll definitely get exposure to a huge user base and complex systems working on an e-commerce platform. As a Software Engineer, there are plenty of interesting technical challenges, especially if you're proactive. It's a decent spot to learn by doing in the Jakarta office.
Cons: Career progression isn't always clear, especially for individual contributors past junior level. Getting promotions feels like a long process, and mentorship isn't really structured. You have to actively seek out growth opportunities yourself; they won't come to you.
Advice to Management: Please create clearer career paths and more structured mentorship programs for employees, especially for those in technical roles. Make it easier to see how to advance beyond just taking on more work.

Pay Is Okay, Benefits Could Be Better
Pros: The base salary for engineering roles is pretty competitive for Jakarta, especially if you're experienced. You get to work on massive e-commerce platform projects which looks great on a resume. The health insurance was also solid, can't complain there.
Cons: Annual bonuses weren't always predictable or substantial, which was a bummer. The overall benefits package, like retirement contributions or other perks, felt a bit behind other big tech places I've seen. Stock options weren't as generous for my level.
Advice to Management: Management should look at boosting the overall benefits package to match other leading big tech companies. More predictable and transparent bonus structures would also help with employee retention, especially for senior engineering talent.

Culture's good, growth needs work here
Pros: The teams here are really supportive, especially in the engineering department. There's a good sense of teamwork, which is a big help with daily tasks in this tech industry. People are generally friendly and approachable.
Cons: Sometimes leadership isn't super clear on overall direction. For a big corporate structure, it feels like career advancement for individual contributors isn't well-defined. It makes long-term planning a bit tough for folks like us.
Advice to Management: Management should work on making career paths more transparent, especially for the software engineering track. Clearer communication about company vision would also help everyone feel more aligned.

Leadership struggles with clear direction
Pros: The teams are solid. I've learned a ton from other engineers, which is great for career growth in the tech industry. Pay and benefits are pretty decent for a big tech company here, and the hybrid model offers some flexibility.
Cons: Leadership is pretty disconnected from the daily grind. As a Software Engineer, I felt management didn't always understand our technical challenges. Decisions feel really top-down and change way too often, messing up project roadmaps and making us restart work.
Advice to Management: Seriously, try to be more transparent and consistent with your vision. Listen to the teams on the ground, especially in engineering. Less flip-flopping on strategy would boost morale a lot.

Work-life balance is okay for some roles.
Pros: I gotta say, the hybrid model helped a lot. Working from home a few days meant less commute to the Jakarta office, which is a big plus. As a big tech company, they do have decent benefits and a solid engineering culture.
Cons: But for some engineering teams, especially before big releases, the hours could get pretty rough. We often pulled long days, and it felt like there wasn't much room for personal life. The pressure in the fast-paced tech industry can be intense.
Advice to Management: Try to set clearer boundaries for engineering teams, even during crunch times. It's tough for Software Engineers to maintain a healthy work-life balance when projects consistently run over or expectations are unclear.

Job Security Feels Shaky After Recent Changes
Pros: It's a big tech company, so when things are stable, they're really solid. You get access to decent benefits and a fine salary compared to some smaller startups in the tech industry. For Software Engineer roles, there's generally interesting work.
Cons: Honestly, job security here has felt pretty iffy lately. There's been a lot of internal restructuring and recent layoffs, which makes everyone nervous. It's hard to focus on long-term projects when you're worried about your next email, working remote from Jakarta.
Advice to Management: Be more transparent about company direction and future plans. Communicate clearly with employees, especially when big changes are happening. It would help a lot with trust and morale during these tough times.
