Flexibility is Okay, But It's a Balance
Pros: You get some decent flexibility for personal appointments, especially in the Greenville office. Some teams, particularly for office-based engineering roles, have adopted a hybrid model which is a solid step. It's not a strict 9-to-5 if you manage your tasks well.
Cons: For many roles, especially anything close to production lines in tire manufacturing, true flexibility is tough. Onsite requirements are pretty strict, and shifting schedules can be a real challenge for Process Engineers. Don't expect much WFH if you're on the plant floor.
Advice to Management: Really consider more remote or hybrid options for all feasible roles, not just a select few. The automotive industry is changing, and retaining talent means adapting.

Hybrid model has pros and cons for supply chain
Pros: The hybrid model in the Greenville, SC office offers some flexibility for appointments and personal stuff. You can often choose your in-office days, which is a big plus. It's solid for non-production roles here.
Cons: Full remote work isn't really an option for most in tire manufacturing, which can be tough. Sometimes I feel less flexible than I'd like, despite the hybrid setup. Could be more understanding about different needs.
Advice to Management: Consider more comprehensive remote options for roles that don't require daily onsite presence. Trust employees to manage their work effectively from different locations.

Decent leadership, but communication can be tough.
Pros: As an R&D Engineer, I appreciate that project leads in the Greenville, SC office are generally very supportive. They usually back you up on technical decisions. It's good to have that trust in this big corporate environment.
Cons: Upper management often feels out of touch with daily operations in tire manufacturing. Decisions can be slow, and communication from the top down isn't always clear. It makes pushing projects forward a real challenge for our team.
Advice to Management: Please improve communication channels between different levels of leadership, especially for those of us in the automotive industry R&D. We need more clarity on long-term strategy and how our work fits in.

Career path is slow, but skills grow.
Pros: I've gained solid technical skills, especially with different rubber compounds and manufacturing processes. There are good internal training programs for specific engineering roles. You get exposure to a global supply chain, which is cool.
Cons: Career progression for manufacturing roles can feel glacial. There aren't many opportunities for rapid promotion, and it feels like you're waiting for someone to retire. Getting cross-functional experience outside your department is tough in the Greenville, SC office.
Advice to Management: Really look at ways to accelerate career growth paths, especially for high-performing technical roles. Create more clear opportunities for lateral moves and cross-training.

Stable Job, Culture Needs Modernizing
Pros: There's good job security here, especially for a Manufacturing Engineer in the tire industry. You'll find decent benefits and most coworkers in the Greenville, SC office are supportive. It's a very stable place to work, which is nice.
Cons: The company culture moves slowly, so innovation can be tough sometimes. It's very onsite focused, so work flexibility isn't really a thing for my role. Sometimes it feels like bureaucracy gets in the way of getting things done quickly.
Advice to Management: Try to embrace more modern work styles and empower teams to innovate faster. More flexibility, even hybrid options, would really help morale and attract new talent to corporate roles.

Leadership's Fine, But Needs More Direction
Pros: You get solid benefits here, that's a plus. There's a lot of stability in the tire manufacturing sector. Some senior managers really try to support their teams, which helps.
Cons: Leadership often feels out of touch with day-to-day operations for an onsite role like mine. Decisions can be slow, and it's tough to get clear direction. Innovation seems to stall at higher levels.
Advice to Management: Listen more to the folks on the ground. Speed up decision-making and provide clearer goals for teams.

Decent Stability, Slow Career Path for Engineers
Pros: There's solid job security here, which is nice for a big corporate in the automotive industry. As a Manufacturing Engineer, I got to work on some interesting projects in the Greenville, SC office. The benefits package is pretty good, and it's a stable place to work.
Cons: Career growth for technical roles feels very slow; it's tough to get promoted quickly. You often have to wait for someone to retire or leave. The company culture is a bit traditional, and there isn't much work flexibility for onsite roles in manufacturing.
Advice to Management: Create clearer, more accelerated career paths for engineers. Encourage internal mobility and reward high performers more proactively to prevent stagnation.

Decent Benefits, Pay Could Be Better Here
Pros: The health insurance is pretty solid here. For a large corporate company like Michelin, the overall benefits package is quite competitive in the automotive industry.
Cons: Base salary isn't always great, especially for Manufacturing Engineer roles in Greenville, SC. Annual merit increases feel pretty small, so it's tough to really see your pay grow without a big promotion.
Advice to Management: You guys should focus on making base salaries more competitive across the board. Small annual raises don't really help employees keep up with inflation or feel valued for their contributions.

Solid Job Security in a Big Corporate Place
Pros: You get pretty stable employment here, especially for those in core operations within the tire manufacturing industry. You don't see mass layoffs often. Being a global leader in the automotive industry means constant demand, which helps.
Cons: Career growth can feel slow for mid-level employees. Promotions aren't always quick. The hybrid work model isn't always flexible enough; sometimes it feels like forced office time in the Greenville, SC office.
Advice to Management: Modernize some management practices to boost morale and speed up career progression opportunities, especially for key roles like a Supply Chain Analyst. More genuine flexibility for the hybrid setup would also be great.

Decent Flexibility, But Depends On Your Role
Pros: For some corporate roles, there's a good hybrid model, maybe 2-3 days WFH. That's a decent perk if your job doesn't need you on the production lines constantly. They're big on safety and quality too.
Cons: As a Manufacturing Engineer, I was mostly onsite. It's tough to get real work flexibility when you're tied to the factory floor and the automotive industry's demands. Don't expect full remote for plant-based engineering.
Advice to Management: Consider exploring more flexible schedules, even like a 4/10 for plant support roles, to improve work-life balance.
