Project Manager

Decent enough work-life balance for production roles
Pros: The hybrid model helps a lot, letting me split my time between home and the Lititz, PA office. As a Project Manager, I appreciate having some flexibility to manage personal appointments when I'm not directly involved in onsite live events production. It's not always 40-hour weeks, but it's manageable most of the time.
Cons: Peak season for entertainment technology projects can be pretty brutal; long days and sometimes weekend work are expected for installations. It's tough to truly disconnect when you're responsible for big projects. Sometimes I feel like I'm always 'on call' even after hours.
Advice to Management: Try to staff up more during peak seasons to ease the burden on individual Project Managers. Also, encouraging more mandatory disconnect time, even just a few hours a week, would be great for employee well-being.

Decent Place, but Work-Life Balance Can Be Tough
Pros: The team culture in the Lititz, PA office is genuinely supportive. You learn a ton about the live event production industry, which is exciting. They do offer some flexibility during slower periods for a Project Coordinator role.
Cons: Work-life balance here is often a struggle, especially nearing project deadlines. You'll work more than 40-hour weeks regularly, and sometimes weekends are required for event tech installations. There isn't much opportunity for remote work or WFH for most roles, it's very onsite.
Advice to Management: Try to implement clearer boundaries for project hours and consider more flexible work options for non-critical onsite roles. Burnout is a real concern for the live event production teams.

Hybrid works okay for Project Engineers
Pros: The hybrid model is a solid perk, especially for Project Engineer roles. You get some WFH days, which is nice. This flexibility really helps balance things in the demanding live event production industry.
Cons: It's not always true flexibility, though. When deadlines hit, you're working long hours, even from home. On-site requirements for show control systems also limit real remote options.
Advice to Management: Keep pushing for better work-life balance during peak production cycles. More clear boundaries on 'flexibility' would help.

Solid culture, tough hours for Production
Pros: The team in the Lititz, PA office is genuinely supportive. Everyone's passionate about delivering amazing live event production. There's a real sense of camaraderie, especially when you're pulling off big projects. It feels like a big family a lot of the time.
Cons: Work-life balance can be really tough as a Production Designer. You'll put in a lot of long hours, especially close to show dates. The pace in the entertainment technology sector is just brutal sometimes. It's hard to switch off when projects are always on your mind.
Advice to Management: Try to find ways to ease the workload for Production Designers. Burnout is a real issue with these intense live event production schedules. Maybe more support staff or better project planning could help.

Okay if you're comfortable, not for big moves
Pros: You get to work on some genuinely cutting-edge kinetic architecture projects. It's fantastic for early career design engineers to gain hands-on experience. The work is always interesting and keeps you engaged.
Cons: Upward mobility is pretty limited, especially for Project Engineers in the Lititz, PA office. Many times, career growth means leaving the company altogether. There aren't clear promotion paths or development programs.
Advice to Management: You should really focus on creating clearer internal promotion paths and leadership development programs. It would help a lot with retention for experienced Project Engineers and other roles in live event technology. Give people a reason to stay and grow here.

Work-Life Can Be Tricky for Live Events Roles
Pros: I loved the projects in the live events industry, especially working on big concert tours. You get to learn a lot fast. The team in the Lititz, PA office is generally pretty supportive.
Cons: Work-life balance is tough, especially during project crunch times. As a Stage Automation Technician, 60-hour weeks weren't uncommon, and planning personal life was hard. There's not much work flexibility when deadlines hit.
Advice to Management: Try to staff projects better to avoid burnout. More emphasis on sustainable hours for Stage Automation Technicians would help with retention.

Cool Projects, But Career Growth Stalls
Pros: The best part is definitely the projects. You get to work on some genuinely groundbreaking stage automation and robotics for major shows. For engineering roles, the hands-on experience with cutting-edge production technology is hard to beat.
Cons: Where's the career path? It felt pretty unclear. There isn't much in terms of formal mentorship or clear promotion tracks, especially if you're looking to move up as an Automation Engineer. You kinda hit a ceiling fast, and getting new responsibilities often means someone else leaves.
Advice to Management: Management really needs to put more effort into defining clear career paths and offering development opportunities for their technical roles. It would help a lot with retaining good talent and making people feel like they have a future at TAIT.

Good Start, But Career Path Can Be Unclear
Pros: I've gained solid experience as a Project Engineer, especially working on complex live events and automation systems. The teams are really skilled, and you learn a ton from the hands-on work in the Lititz, PA office. It's a great place to start your career in the entertainment technology industry.
Cons: However, career growth feels pretty slow for engineering roles here. There isn't a clear path for advancement, and opportunities to move up seem rare. Raises often don't keep up with the market, which can be frustrating.
Advice to Management: Create more transparent career ladders, especially for Project Engineers. Invest in professional development programs to help people move up.

Hybrid work is okay, but not super flexible
Pros: The hybrid model is good for Project Coordinators, with a few WFH days each week. It's nice to avoid the Lititz, PA commute daily. They do try to offer some flexibility around personal appointments when possible.
Cons: You're often tied to strict production timelines and onsite needs. It's tough to truly shift your hours or take extended remote periods. For the live events industry, it's expected, but it limits real work flexibility.
Advice to Management: Try to give more autonomy, especially for roles not directly tied to immediate onsite production. Maybe allow more remote flexibility for Project Coordinators when project phases permit.

Leadership needs a clearer vision at TAIT
Pros: Some project leads are really solid and know their stuff. They help you grow as a Control Systems Engineer and teach you a lot. We get to work on really cool, cutting-edge live event technology too.
Cons: Upper management often lacks consistent direction. It's tough to get clear answers, especially for complex custom automation projects. Decision-making feels really slow in the Lititz, PA office, which impacts project timelines.
Advice to Management: Focus on improving communication from the top down. Teams need clearer objectives and more trust. Streamline the approval process for major stage production components to avoid bottlenecks. Empower middle management more.
