Fixed schedule, tough for work-life balance
Pros: You definitely know your hours way in advance, which is good for setting up long-term plans. The hours are consistent for sales associate positions, which is typical for a corporate retail environment.
Cons: Work flexibility is almost non-existent. Swapping shifts at their New York City boutique is a huge hassle, and getting time off often means using PTO or jumping through hoops. It's really tough if you have appointments or other commitments outside work.
Advice to Management: Management should really look into offering more flexibility for the retail staff. Even making shift swaps easier would make a big difference for us sales associates. It's hard to manage personal life with such rigid onsite schedules.

Solid retail experience, but leadership struggles
Pros: I learned a ton about luxury menswear and clienteling. The commission structure for Sales Associate roles was pretty decent if you hustled. It's a well-known brand in the fashion industry, which looks good on a resume.
Cons: Leadership in the NYC store could be tough. Managers often played favorites, making it hard to get good shifts or clients. There wasn't much transparency about sales goals or how decisions were made within our retail chain.
Advice to Management: Work on consistent training for managers across all stores. Focus on fair client distribution and transparent communication about targets. It would really help boost morale for the sales team.

Solid retail experience, limited career paths
Pros: I learned a lot about men's fashion and suit tailoring while working as a Sales Professional. The commission structure for retail sales was decent, and you get to work with premium products. It's a pretty busy onsite environment, so the days usually go by fast.
Cons: Career growth here is tough. Unless you want to move into management, there aren't many other paths, especially for us in the New York, NY store. You can get stuck doing the same thing for a long time in the luxury fashion industry without much upward mobility.
Advice to Management: Think about creating more varied career paths for your Sales Professionals, especially for long-term employees. It'd help with retention if there were more opportunities to grow beyond just selling.
