Leadership is hit or miss at Yardi
Pros: My direct manager was pretty solid. She really supported me in my Software Support Analyst role. We often worked on the property management platform, and she knew her stuff cold. The immediate team in the Santa Barbara office was also decent.
Cons: Upper management felt very disconnected from the day-to-day. Decisions often came down without much explanation or logic. It was tough to understand the big picture for real estate software initiatives. Career growth felt a bit stagnant because of this, especially for support roles.
Advice to Management: Upper leadership needs to be more visible and transparent. Explain your decisions better. Invest more in development paths for middle managers, particularly in property management software divisions.

Leadership can be hit or miss here
Pros: My direct team lead was solid and supportive, which really helped me grow as a Software Engineer. There are opportunities to work on interesting projects within the real estate tech industry if you seek them out.
Cons: Upper management often feels out of touch with the day-to-day realities. Decision-making for the property management software can be super slow, and they don't always listen to feedback from the engineers. It's a big challenge for innovation.
Advice to Management: Try to be more present and responsive to feedback from your engineering teams. Empower middle management to make quicker decisions on projects related to the core property management software. It would boost morale and efficiency.

Hybrid setup needs more real flexibility
Pros: Working at a big corporate company like Yardi offers solid job security, especially in the real estate software industry. I appreciated the chance to work some WFH days, which helped with my commute to the Santa Barbara, CA office.
Cons: The hybrid model at Yardi isn't always flexible. For my Property Management Software Specialist role, there are strict days you must be onsite. It sometimes felt like management didn't fully trust remote work, which was frustrating.
Advice to Management: Consider truly trusting your employees more with flexible schedules. Let teams decide what works best for their workflow instead of rigid mandates.
