Pros: The health benefits are really good, definitely a strong point for a corporate firm like Spencer Stuart. They offer a pretty comprehensive package, which is a big plus, especially for an onsite role in the Chicago office.
Cons: Base salary for Research Associate roles feels a little low given the hours we put in. Bonuses aren't always super transparent, so it's tough to plan. I've seen other executive search firms offer more competitive base pay.
Advice to Management: Revisit the base salaries for entry-level and mid-level roles, particularly in the research teams. More transparency around the bonus structure would also be appreciated by employees.

Pros: You get to learn so much about various industries and leadership, which is great for understanding the executive search world. The hybrid work setup in the Chicago office is a solid perk; it's nice to have some WFH days. The people are smart and professional.
Cons: Career growth, especially for associate consultant roles, is a big challenge here. It often feels like you're stuck in the same spot for ages, and opportunities to move up or into more senior leadership consulting positions are pretty limited. You really need to push for it.
Advice to Management: Please create clearer, more visible pathways for career progression for associate consultants. More regular check-ins about growth opportunities and internal mentorship would really help with employee retention and motivation.
