Responsibilities

  • Student Leadership Development and Community Service Curation:
    • Support C4SR's mission of providing transformative learning experiences through community service and cultivating active citizenship among students.
    • Mentor and guide student leaders of local and overseas projects to deliver impactful and sustainable service to the community using Service-Learning approaches and tools such as needs analysis and asset mapping.
    • Curate and develop new projects to address unmet community needs (local and overseas) and build capacity of communities, in collaboration with non-profit/community partners and student teams.
    • Facilitate student reflection and help students to recognize and articulate their learning through the community service experience.
  • Volunteer Proposal Management:
    • Review and approve individual student volunteering proposals in accordance with community service requirements.
    • Guide students to meet the community service requirements and achieve expected service/learning outcomes.
    • Source and identify suitable non-profit/community partners and volunteer opportunities.
  • Project Review and Enhancement:
    • Collaborate with partner organizations to re-design projects to facilitate more effective student learning and create a more sustainable service impact for the beneficiary communities.
    • Guide student teams to align project objectives and activities with relevant United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDGs).
  • Communications and Outreach
    • Collaborate with internal corporate communications team and external agencies to enhance the visibility of student initiatives and community impact.
    • Coordinate the production of essential collaterals including videos and print materials.
  • Community Service Fair
    • Co-organise the annual Community Service Fair to promote volunteerism and raise awareness of social causes
    • Showcase volunteering opportunities from community partners and student-led projects.
  • Donor Engagement and Fund Management:
    • Partner SMU's Office of Advancement to curate new projects and platforms to engage donors.
    • Tap on resources such as funds, professional expertise and networks to support students in addressing community needs.
  • Any other duties assigned.
Qualifications

  • Degree with at least 5 to 7 years' relevant work experience in the social service/non-profit, community development or higher education sector.
  • Experience in Student Development, Service-Learning, and Community Engagement is essential.
  • Demonstrated ability in project management, and driving initiatives from conceptualization to implementation and evaluation.
  • Strong organisational, analytical, problem-solving and time management skills.
  • A keen sense of ownership and accountability, with the ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal and presentation skills and able to interact effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Meticulous, adaptable and resourceful.
  • Strong network with community service sector will be an advantage.
  • Familiarity with basic design software e.g. Canva/ Adobe Photoshop would be an added advantage.
  • Proficient in MS Office application.
  • Able to work outside regular office hours occasionally.

Other Information

Candidates who do not possess the stipulated qualifications but have relevant work experience may still apply. Remuneration and appointment terms shall commensurate with qualifications and experience. SMU reserves the right to modify the appointment terms where necessary.
