The Director role offers the opportunity to lead strategic research and innovation initiatives within the industrial biotechnology sector. This position plays a key part in shaping R&D priorities, overseeing funding programmes, and fostering collaboration across industry, academia, and public sector stakeholders while driving the commercialisation of research outcomes.
Responsibilities
- Develop and execute the R&D roadmap in alignment with long-term strategic and economic objectives
- Oversee fund administration activities, including the development of selection criteria, evaluation of scientific proposals, and monitoring of funded projects
- Build and maintain strong relationships with government agencies, industry partners, and the research community to support collaborative innovation initiatives
- Drive the commercialisation of research outputs through technology transfer, licensing activities, and the development of spin-off opportunities
- Provide scientific and technical leadership when engaging with Principal Investigators, researchers, and industry stakeholders
- Support the management of complex research and innovation portfolios to maximise impact and value creation
Requirements
- Advanced degree in Biotechnology, Chemical Engineering, Biochemistry, or a related field; PhD preferred
- Minimum 10–15 years of leadership experience within the Industrial Biotechnology sector
- Proven experience in R&D strategy, innovation management, or technology commercialisation at a regional or global level
- Strong track record of working with stakeholders across research, industry, and public sector environments
- Experience managing large-scale research grants or complex R&D portfolios is highly regarded
- Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and relationship-building skills
