UWCSEA Dover has a vacancy for a Part-Time Teacher of Korean for our Home Languages Programme (HLP) from November 2026 till April 2027 to cover a maternity leave.


The Home Languages Programme is for students who want to maintain a language spoken at home but who do not study this language as part of the academic curriculum during the school day at appropriate level. This programme offers students the opportunity to gain cultural understanding of the language, as well as improve their literacy skills.


The students’ ages are from 4 to 16 years old. Classes are taught in small groups of 3 to 6 students of similar ages and linguistic levels and will take place after school (or at lunchtime for some younger students).


Main Responsibilities

  • Plan, prepare and teach classes as required.
  • Exhibit good classroom management skills.
  • Use digital resources to enhance students’ learning.
  • Provide samples of students’ learning in the school online learning platform for parents to follow students’ progress.
  • Provide feedback to parents
  • Collaborate with the other teachers of the Korean Language Department in developing a Korean Language Curriculum.


Person Specifications

  • Applicants must be degree holders with language teaching experience. Candidates without teaching qualifications but possess experience teaching age groups from 4 to 16 years old with appropriate resources are encouraged to apply.
  • Candidates must have the ability to teach Korean to students who speak Korean as their home language or are heritage speakers of Korean.
  • Candidates must have the ability to read, write and speak fluently in Korean.
  • A commitment to diversity and inclusion is essential alongside a willingness to adapt and develop pedagogy to meet the needs of our learners.
  • Contribute positively and collaboratively to the development of Korean Language and Culture in the curriculum.
  • Promoting cultural exchange and cross-cultural understanding, and embedding Korean customs, history and traditions in the lessons.
